Is there any conduit available that will allow direct downloads on to the 8Mb Flash Springboard?

I think that the newest version of BackupBuddy now backs up files in FlashROM as well as springboard module memory; I don't know if they have any support for installing files directly to flash memory, but you might want to contact them and ask. (if you find out, please post the reply here)

I almost threw a "me too" into this thread, since it *is* a problem getting big files over to the flash memory card, especially if you're near full w/ your base Visor 8meg. (a second Visor would help here- may not be the most cost-effective way...)

Rob- I thought you might have stumbled on to something w/ Backup Buddy. Seems like if they can back the thing up, they should be able to restore, no?

Sigh.

From the Backup Buddy manual:
Restoring Data in Handspring Flash Cards
Although BackupBuddy is able to backup applications and data on flash cards, it
cannot currently automatically restore data to flash cards, due to a limitation in the
current HotSync architecture. If your flash card memory gets wiped out, you will
need to locate your flash card backup directory and manually restore the applications in that directory using the Palm application install utility as described in the manual that comes with your handheld.
*** end quote.

"Limitation in the current HotSynch architecture", eh? Developer opportunity, perhaps?

Rats.
