Question

I have discovered somewhat of a nuisance problem recently with my VDX. When I use the grafitti silkscreen area to enter text I noticed that the box is shifted. First, let me add that I use the Graspeedy hack, so my silkscreen area is divided into three boxes. On the left I enter lowercase letters, in the center I enter uppercase letters, and on the right I enter numbers. I also switched to Xmaster recently over Hackmaster. I'm not sure if the problem started after loading Xmaster or not. But, basically when entering numbers I must write them right next to the right hand line and when entering lowercase letters I must enter them slightly to the right of the left hand line. In other words, it seems that text recognition in the entire area has shifted right. Has anyone seen this or have any insight as to what might cause this?

Alternatives and maybe a fix?

1) have you tried retuning your digizitizer?
Go into Preferences/Digitizer and retune the tablet there. This sounds like the most obvious fix.
2) If this doesn't work, turn off graspeedy and see if you still have the same problem.. If the problem goes away, then it's graspeedy ..
I use TealScript, primarily as a replacement for Grafitti.. It also has the mid-screen capitalization area.. text written on the threshold between the text and number areas are read as capitals.. I've almost forgotten the Grafitti for making capitals Besides this neat function, it allows you to train it to your handwriting, instead of having to conform to Grafitti.. You can add multiple forms for each letter, shortcuts, etc... I'd rate it a must have, and it'll still offer you the capitalization area that you desire.
Hope this helps!

Cool Digitizer seemed to help

I did recalibrate the digitizer before writing the post, but forgot to check if it fixed the problem (dumb me). Anyway, it seemed to help, but it's still not perfect. I may look into TealScript. I think there's another replacement out there called Jot which does the same things, but I've gotten so used to the grafitti alphabet that I don't know if it's worth training another program to my handwriting. Thanks for the suggestions.

Jot vs. TealScript

I've used Jot too.. while it's neat being able to write on the screen area... that's about all it has going for it IMO. It's also a timed demo, while Tealscript is full shareware.. I've been waiting to find enough "Must Have" teal apps to get their bulk discount .

Enjoy!
