Visor Parts - Where to buy?

Hi,

I'm trying to make a connector cord for my visor edge. I need a regular hotsync connector (visor edge style) and the serial connector off any other visor other than the edge (solo/deluxe/platinum and so on). I can find the hotsync connector, but am having trouble locating the serial connector. Does anyone know where I can get one OR does anyone have a broken visor that i could scrap the connector from? I'm willing to pay a reasonable price...

Thanks,
michaelfelix

I would try gethitech.com .
They seem to stock just about any kind of PDA related pieces.

If you are looking for a standard serial connector I would try your nearest Radio Shack. They tend to have a nice supply of electronic and computer pieces and parts. And if you are just making a hot sync cable I would think a standard serial connector would be just fine.

I'm not looking for a serial connector, i'm looking for the actual part on the visor solo/deluxe/platinum that contacts with the hotsync cradle. Thanks for the help, though.

Post Serial HotSync Cable?

Are you trying to build a serial HotSync cable for your Edge? Handspring does make an USB cable that has the connector I believe you're looking for. Don't know how easy it would be to rewire though...

Good luck...

So that your whatever you're connecting your Edge to thinks it feels the underside of a solo/deluxe/platinum right? There still seems to be some confusion. I hope this is correct so that it helps rather than further confusing the issue.

IIRC from another thread, he's trying to make a keyboard adapter that will allow the Edge to use a regular Visor keyboard like the Stowaway. Unfortunately, I think that short of finding a broken Visor that someone will sell for cheap, the chances of finding this part are slim to none.

Howdy,

Actually, i found all the parts i needed. The parts are coming in and soon i will find out if this idea is going to work.

Instead of just buying a broken visor, i got a part from gethightech.com that includes the 8 pin serial port. I also found where i can get the 12 pin visor edge hotsync connector.

I'm building a site on how to make the adapter, but it may end up that my idea won't even work. It's worth a good try, though. I'll post the url once it's ready.
