Converting E-mail Messages into Doc Files

Friends,

Background:
Occasionally I want to read e-mail messages on my VDx, but not all messages and not all the time. In fact I have Inbox syncing turned off in MultiMail 3.1 and don't use the built in Mail program at all. On the PC I am using Outlook and Pocket Mirror Professional 3.0.

What I would like to do is take selected e-mail messages that I have no time to read at my desk, and be able to read them as DOC files or whatever on the Visor after next hot sync. This comes up when I have to read some e-mail, but will be away from my desk, like to taking the dog to the vet or me to the doctor, or standing in line at the market, etc.

I have tried copying the selected messages to Outlook Notes, but I usually run into the 4K limit, so that is not the best solution. I thought about forwarding selected e-mails (using a rule in Outlook) to my BugMe Messenger mailbox, then hotsyncing, but there is a size limit there as well.

Does anyone else have this problem, and a workable solution? Coola doesn't seem to have this feature. HandStory seems to mess up my Visor for some reason. Would i-Silo be the way to go? I am stuck and frustrated. Any advice is welcome.

If you've got MS Word, you've got several options. Just cut and paste into Word, and use any of the following, depending on how much you want to spend:

PalmDoc (free)
Word Doc converter ($5.00)
pDoc (Used to be the free PalmDoc but is now $19.95)
Wordsmith ($29.95)

There is also a stand alone (not connected to Word) called MegaDoc ($25.00)

Hope this helps

Helps. Yes, I knew I could do this. Lazy me, I am looking for a Coola-type or HandStory-type solution, so I don't have to think about it much. For the short term, I might get brave and try HandStory again.

Thanks!

I get round the problem by setting the Hot-sync options in the Palm email app to sync Unread mail only. Then leave (or flag) mail I want to take on the road as unread.

If you're running into the 4k limit in notes and want to use the above method with email, you may find the 8k limit in the built in palm app restrictive. If so, take a look at e*Mail. It's a free app which uses the built in mail db yet allows 32k messages as well as having a save unread option.
