VisorCentral without a Visor?

I started here because I planned to buy and then bought a Visor. But, once here, I found the answers to most of my PalmOS and software questions, too. Now that I'm here, I don't want to leave, even when my next PDA will probably be a Sony.

I like the format here far better than Yahoo! Groups style forums that most others use.

The people here are very knowledgable about PalmOS PDA's and other things.

Above all, things are nice and friendly here.

I don't plan to get a Treo, so going to TreoCentral has little intrest for me.

If the Visor is truly "going away," it would be nice to change this site to a "power user" site someday, catering to folks with a desire to really use their PalmOS PDA to the utmost.

I second the motion!

Although I still have my Edge, its a pale comparision to my 760C...except that's its just so darn thin! But I do still love being a part of Visor Central as the people here really know their stuff!

So let keep it going with a power users board!

IMO it already is a power user site. I don't see the need to change the name. I replaced my VDx with a CLIE months ago and I still visit VisorCentral (first) daily.

Thumbs up

This site does have managed to foster informative, fairly polite, and entertaining threads; to my mind, more than any other site that I frequent (BrightHand, ...ClieSource, PalmInfoCenter, PDABuzz).

While I go to PalmInfoCenter for news, I come here for questions, good discussions, and the occasional larf. (Loved the "HandSpring Suicide" thread... "Can I have his palm?" Hee hee )

Even though my VDX is going into cold storage when the Clie T615 arrives in the next couple of days, I'm still planning on visiting here. (I need to -- the most informative Sony Clie installation posting threads are all here! Thank God for Search...)

My concern was more that the site would go away.

I don't care if the name stays as long as keep up the good banter.

The Visor was the original mainstream poweruse PalmOS PDA, so as far as I'm concerned, the name can stay as a tribute.

I don't really see the need for TreoCentral.com, though. Why not just add that stuff here?

Guys, don't worry.
First of all the visor is not dead yet...
Second of all why would they remove the site if it still gets visited?

Unfortunately I know just as much as you guys on the future of VC, but my instincts say it will be around for a while...

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

Hope the advertisers will continue to spend to keep the site alive...

Even if I get a T615C, I will stay here. First, I am not planning on getting rid of my Platinum, just changing what it will do for me. Secondly, this forum is a heck of a lot more civil than most. No flame wars. Very nice.

Ditto! I bought a Clie on Monday and have fallen in love...again! It was just a year ago that I bought my second Visor (Prism) and fell in love with that.

I've been scouring the net for Clie sites...NOTHING compares to VisorCentral! I know there are a bunch of people here with other Palm OS PDAs.

VisorCentral should remain active even if there are NO new Visors....we can vote on a new name or something!

I love you, guys! (sniff, sniff)

Actually, it might become even more popular since it might wind up being the only support avenue. If they discontinue the Visor line, I can't imagine them supporting them for more than a year afterwards. That's when user groups become more important.

I'm not worried about the site going away, but I'm more concerned that as most of us are power users, we'll gravitate over to other hardware sites, such as the Clie yahoo group or whatever, and I don't want to see this great & best resource diminished b/c the PDA we love is going away...but I'm not going anywhere, I've still got my very useful Edge, and always check VC first...

I love VC...its a tremendous resource, for all PDA's, not just the Visor line...so I for one, want it to continue as long as possible.

Hear Hear! I just received my Edge a week ago, to replace my 2MB Visor (which was working fine, by the way). The Edge is certainly much better than what I expected (based on all the reviews I've been reading while deciding). I'm still a Handspring supporter, they make some good stuff (okay, I'm done, the flaming can now begin).
