Don't get me wrong, I like Palm OS because of the simplicity, versatility, and the programs, and I like Handspring because of the expandability, but it seems consumers are asking that their handhelds do more with each year. I thought one of the reasons Jeff Hawkins left Palm (other than 3Com buying them out) was to focus on making a Palm OS PDA that was simpler and more cost effective? Isn't that why we can't flash our ROM? I know I'm probably not the only one to say it, but I just wanted to put it out there to see what everyone else thought. Feel free to disagree.
I have a Platinum now and I used to have a Deluxe. Guess what my dream PDA is now... the iPaq.
I'm sick of the B&W low-res small square screen. I'm sick of the OS that doesn't do any multimedia stuff natively. And of course, the main reason I feel this way is because I actually held one in my hand, and fell in love at that moment. The Micro$oft issue became irrelevant as soon as the beatiful color screen lit up in front of me, with its anti-aliased fonts, surrounded by the sleek aluminum case. My next PDA will most likely be the next iPaq.
PS. I've played with my friend's Sony Clie (the one with the 320x320 screen) and I think it's crap compared to the iPaq, while it's the same price. And all the other PocketPCs are irrelevant to me.
