Well, i Needed a cost effective mp3 type player...My Minijam was good, but i needed a standalone. Pretty neat lil player /recorder.
Up to Five hrs on a single disc( about 2.50 a disc)and, they are rerecordable.. AnyBody have one of these? Just curious!

Have you checked out the MP3 MiniDisk players?
They play both MP3's and Mini Disks..

You might want to try a player that will play MP3 files on a burnt CD-- that way, you could play regular CD's, as well as extra long ones that use the MP3 format instead of the default- meaning 7-10 hours of music on 1 cd, and CD-R(W)'s are practically being given away these days.
Here is one I found at amazon, and I know it is at Best Buy for the same price ($80)

ToolKit,
last i checked, md players that "play mp3s" was a misnomer. the files are converted from mp3 format when being transferred to the md.
why sony has not put out an md player that will actually play mp3s as mp3s, i have no clue.

Well, that is exactly what i got. I know it uses open mg software, (atrac3) but, i mainly got it for its size, and the ability to connect to a source wtith a optical cable. and its small.(easy to take to the gym for workouts)

I bought one of those after my Diamond solid state MP3 player died, and I find them to be a bit big...
You also have models that use smaller CD's but that kinda defeats the point IMHO.
The good thing it also plays regular CD's and can store hours of music on 1 disc (as MP3). Changing media goes a lot faster too...
