Angry Battery Never Up to 100%

New Prism about a week old and I can never get the battery level to read over about 96 or 97%. With my palm the battery would read 100% after a full charge. I charged the Prism fully the first time and am reading the level off Launch'Em. Is this a common problem with the prism or did I get a previously used and returned Prism instead of a new one at staples/business depot?

Do you sync with a cradle or a cable? I have an Edge that does the same thing when I charge it in the cradle at work - it usually charges to 98% and then stops charging, indicating a full charge. When I charge it at home with a cable, it always charges to 100%. I am not sure of the cause, but I thought that I would let you know that you are not the only one experiencing this.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm charging in a cradle. Wonder why that makes a difference.?? But it's good to know there are other Visors behaving the same way.

Mine does the same thing. I even left it in the cradle all night and still got a 98% reading. I do not know that it really matters, but it is odd.

Have you guys tried a soft reset? I had a similar battery drain problem, but it turned out it was in that weird "warm reset fix stuff" mode, which seems to drain batteries faster.

running Hacks?

I have tried a soft reset, but it didn't make a difference. I am running hacks, but if it was a hack causing it, why would I be able to get a 100% charge with my sync cable? I am not really too concerned about it. I love my Edge and wouldn't risk getting a replacement that could potentially have serious problems compared to this. Yes, you read that correctly, I love my Edge.

You ain't kidding. If it ain't broke...

...seriously, though, I can't figure the difference. maybe the voltage is somehow lower at work... or maybe being plugged into the usb cable makes a difference.. who know...

..me, I'd let it go, the edge battery is rock solid and long lasting.

Last night I charged my Prism for over an hour. Before I took it off the cradle, I turned it on and checked the battery level and it read 100%. I was not half-way across the room and it was down to 99% and by the time I got to my bedroom it was 98%.

I guess the physics do not allow it to stay at 100% for very long.

I had the same problem when I first got my prism, but I found out that if you set the brightness to the lowest setting. Then take it off the cradle after a full charge. It will show 100% but as stated previous posts it will not stay at 100% very long at all. I think the gauge doesnt read right when you have the brightness set-high or the battery has a high drain put on it.

When I had my Prism I had the same problem. It would sometimes get to 100%, but not always. One thing I found interesting is it would never get to 100% with a Module inserted. At first, I thought that was the sole problem, but it wasn't. Just know you are not alone.

I was having a similar problem with apparent battery drain. Regardless of how long I had my Prism in the cradle, it would not register above ~30% charge. I called HS support and they naturally asked about hacks and other software... which I have, like most users do. At the same time, I was also having problems with the maps loaded for my Magellan Companion GPS... turns out they were corrupted. HS support had me do the soft reset while on the phone without success... I had to do a hard reset which fixed the problem. I reloaded the software, maps, etc. and all is well. :-)
