Well I ordered mine on 10/29/2002 (almost a week ago), but Handspring's site still says "Awaiting Shipment," meaning the order hasn't been fulfilled by the warehouse...

Case Recommendations for Sprint Phone

I bought four of these. What a bargain. What cases do you experienced users recommend. Thanks.

Check out a browser called Xiino. I dumped Blazer 2.0..biggest gripe, can't select and copy text from a web page (which is why I use the web, to get information!). It also saves web pages offline, and a few more features that Blazer doesn't (and probably will never) have. Graphics are handled differently..automatically sized to fit into the page...but is a very slight disadvantage..plus it's much faster than Blazer.

I'm using a self-modified EB Leather Slipper case (extra case I had lying around). I took a sharp knife and cut out a section where the lid flips over to accomodate the Digital Link. I wanted a case that allowed my to use the phone while it was in the case, and nothing on Handspring's website seemed to fit the bill. Plus since I already had the case, I didn't want to spend $30-60 on a case for a free phone

I am using the case by Active Armor. Works great, but you have to cut it a little to fit. There is a review on this site, although I can't give you a direct link offhand.

The Active Armor case works with the Sprint springboard? I read their web site and thought it said that the case wouldn't work with it.

Case for digital link

Does anyone know if the Vaja case for VisorPhone fits the Digital link?

I'm also considereing CaseTechWorks Spring Flip Case
(http://www.casetechworks.com/) but I'm concerned that the case doesn't have cut-outs for the microphone. You can't really tell from the picture on their web site. I'm currently using a different model CaseTechWorks case and I had to cut a hole in the case for the mic.

Anyone have experience with either of these cases?

Well, I am using one, and my wife is using one. I have the Visor Pro and the wife a Deluxe with the Sprint Digital Link. As I said though, you have to cut it with a exacto Knife or razor blade to get it to fit. One thing about this case is that it fits very snug at first, but as you use it over time, and occasionally take the Visor out of it (She has to to replace batteries), it will "wear" fit itself, and not be so tight. I like it, as it has a flip door which is down when using the phone without a headset, and protects the screen. One disadvantage to having the PDA/Phone unit, is when someone wants to borrow it to make a call...before I got this case, I would get it back with makeup, sweat, etc all over the screen. This case protects the Visor very well. Other possible disadvantages are stylus goes on the outside of case...might be easier to lose it, though I haven't yet in over 6 months. And you have to cut a little hole in the back for your reset button. Also, it won't charge in the cradle unless removed from the case, however, I don't use the cradle any more..bought a nice USB Sync/charge cable, and it works right in the case thru the cutout in the bottom. Another minor thing about the case is that the door is held close with 2 little rubber tits, which don't work all that well, especially since the case is a tight fit. But I keep the unit in my pocket usually...might be more of a factor if you wanted to hang the unit off your belt, etc. But I am happy with the case...has a high "coolness" factor too.

I remember reading somewhere on this site that the Vaja VisorPhone case will work with the Digital Link, but I can't confirm this.

I ended up ordering the Spring Flip II from CaseTechWorks for my Prism/Digital Link combo. Doesn't exactly fit perfectly, but it'll work...a couple of points though:

-In order to close the lid of the case, you have to bend the leather flaps around the outside of the Digital Link because the Digital Link is too "fat."
-The antenna cutout on the Spring Flip is not long enough for the Digital Link antenna. I've found that you can stretch the lid around the antenna anyway (don't worry, it won't tear, the leather feels pretty durable). Another option would be to simply unscrew the antenna whenever opening and closing the case lid.
-Even though the Spring Flip is advertised as being Hotsync-able in the case, I couldn't get mine to fit in the Prism cradle, so I just use a travel sync cable...works fine.
-And yes, there is a cutout for the microphone, so you can carry on a phone call even with the lid closed.

Overall I'm happy with the Spring Flip case...I especially like the expansion pouch on the back (although it seems as if in time, it may become too stretched out and not shrink back down when the Digital Link is removed). Works well with my MiniJam module too. And there are even two pockets for credit cards, etc.

Before I got the DL, I had the Prism case from Vaja....since that case doesn't support large Springboard items like the DL, I had to get a new case. But the Vaja case was VERY nice, very well constructed and professional looking...so you may want to look into the Vaja VisorPhone case too. The Vaja case fit my Prism much more snugly than the Spring Flip. Not sure which I liked better....the snugness of the Vaja or the loose, easy removability of the Spring Flip.

I've had a few mixed reactions to my Prism/DL combo. Some thought it was a really old, bulky cellphone (which, I guess it is)...others found it to be pretty neat. To each his own, I suppose.

Works well for me!

On a slightly unrelated note:

My DigitalLink simply doesn't ring sometimes. The signal strength is usually at 3 or 4 bars, but for some reason most people who call me receive my voicemail after 4 rings...and it never rings on my end.

Any ideas what could be causing this? (yes, I've checked the ring settings) Should I take it to a Sprint store, or will they just look at the DL and not know what the hell it is? Should I just order a new one (since they're free) and try my luck with that one?

I have had the same problem at times. When I fly to certain parts of the country, I notice in some areas it does this. Last week, I was out in the midwest, and when I was at an airport, I could not get any incoming calls. But I could make outgoing calls fine. However, if I was talking on the DL, I would get my incoming calls as I could see it ringing and put one on hold and answer the call. A friend of mine who was with me had a regular Sprint phone, and his was working fine. I would call Sprint and complain. I don't know why this happens sometimes. I am guessing it might be sensitive to certain radio frequency interference or something like that.

Dead Link

So my Sprint Digital Link is dead.
What oh what can I do?

Any of you out there that got one for free (I know several folks got 2 or 3) wanna part with one?

I was gunna go Treo 300 but until they get the features I'm looking for (expandability, etc), I'm going to hold out.

Help a Brutha out!!!!
