The files are quite large, but you can download the manuals for the m500 series from the Palm support site. They answered a few of my questions about the units.

Interesting reading.

Does anyone with a V or Vx know if they dedock like this:

I think this sounds interesting:

quote:

How are image files and audio files stored on the expansion card?

When Palm compatible image and audio files are Hotsynced to the device, they are put on the expansion card in one of 2 catagories--either Image or Audio.

This seems to imply that you could hotsync a large image or audio file and it would automatically get directed to the SD card inserted in the device. Maybe you could even load a file larger than 8MB.

Ash,

No they don't. The V series simply pulls straight up. You couldn't dedock like this if you tried because of the shape of the cradle actually the bottom of the V fits into a slot that runs the length of the cradle/handheld. Naturally speaking, the dedock process on the M505 should be easier or about the same as the V.

I skimmed through the Users Guide and it looks like you can choose the destination of files you install, directly onto the m50x or onto an installed card. Seems pretty damn nice to me.

That shouldn't be a problem since you can sync directly to the card. You could also buy a SD/MMC interface for your PC and store the files that way.

I just thought it was worth pointing out since none of the Handspring solutions currently support direct sync to memory expansion.
