Unhappy 64 MB Smart Media error

Greetings all,

I'm leaving on vacation next week and I ordered a 64 MB Smart Media
card from Transcend at Merit Online at a really good price.
Unfortunately, I fear that I may have gotten what I paid for.

The card works fine in my Fuji camera when I tested it. But when I
put it into my Memplug to view my test shots, I received the
following error:

../src/HsExtCard.c
Line: 4408
HsSysPatchRemove err

I then have to do a soft reset.

Now, I don't have this problem with my other SM cards. Could this
have to do with the fact that I used it in my camera first, in which
case I need to reformat the card? But how? Or maybe when I upgraded
to v1.5 on the Memplug there was a problem? Or maybe I have a bad SM
Card?

Please help. I leave in five days!

I had the same problem with a new 16Mb card until I put a file in the PiDirect directory. Apparently PiDirect chokes the system if there are no files in \palm\PiDirect. I had to disable PiDirect to get PiMover to work in order to get a file into the directory.

Hey There,

I tried your advice and disabled the PiDirect before inserting the 64 MB card. I then clicked on one of the PiTech items. Unfortunately, I still received the same error. I guess that I'm not having the same problem that you did.

Thanks for the offer anyway.

Hi all,

With the information provided, we did some tests and found the
reasons for the problems. This is due to some unused stuffs are left
behind by updater 1.4 after update and are mis-used by updater 1.5.

The simple solution is, delete an application called "PiDirect" and
soft-reset your Visor. This application ("PiDirect") will not show up in your default launcher's "Delete" screen. But you maybe able to delete it in other 3rd party launcher eg. LauncherIII downloaded from our webpage.

FYI, updater 1.6 will be release on this Thursday.
That updater will have the formal release of PiDirect v1.0 and will automatically clean up those unused stuffs for you.

64 MB Smart Media error

Hi PiDeveloper,

When I go to "Delete" from my App menu in my launcher, I see two files. "PiDirect" and "PiDirectExt" Is one of these files causing my problem? Which is the one I should delete?

Strange that it would only effect my new card and not my older ones. Any reason for that?

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Delete "PiDirect", and leave "PiDirectExt".
But I think the problem is not related to which card you use.

Formal Release

Hi PiDeveloper,

I also have a series of crash today when I try to move
TealDoc into the card. Delete 'PiDirect' didn't seems to help, so I move it back into the RAM. Is there any particular things I should do when trying to move these document reader programs into the card?
I also have similar problem with Doctogo....

And another question, in 1.5 release note, it said 1.5 enhanced to support FireViewer. What kind of support 1.5 give to FireViewer?
The only thing I sucessfully doing is move the program into PiDirect and run it from the card. However, all of the pictures still have to stay inside the RAM. Fireviewer seems not recognise anything in PiDirect directory....???

However, PiDirect gave no other problems so far. Pretty cool! Looking forward to Thursday ...

Thanks,

AlynDiem
