Xircom - It still stucks

I bought a Xircom Wireless Ethernet module off eBay for $100. I was pretty happy with that at the time!
I took me a while but I finally got a WAP and I was excited to try out my handy dandy module. Well, to make sure everything was set up correctly I connected my laptop and checked Internet access. All was good. Next I plugged in the Xircom to my Prism and without making any changes to the setup I tried Blazer. Nothing. Fine, I didn't think it'd be THAT easy. By default all the settings on the Xircom are "automatic" so I looked at my laptop's IP settings and basically copied them to the Xircom. I forced an IP address and DNS to it. I restarted Blazer and nothing still.
I didn't know what to do so I came to Visor Central and spent about 2 hours in this forum looking at other people's posts.
It seems most people are having this same trouble and very few posts stated any kind of success.
It is really weird because if I leave all the Xircom settings (IP and DNS) to automatic, it gets a DNS but not a proper IP. If I force an IP the DNS gets whacked. <sigh>

Out of curiosity, which fixes did you try? For me, turning off the power saving feature pretty much completely solved my problems. If you want, I'll post my current settings.

The Xircom device (I got it from the same guy, by the way) is my personal messiah, especially since my OmniSky service may eventually disappear (since it's being owned by EarthLink at the moment). I'm only one small technological leap away from being able to surf the web in the bathtub. ^_^

Well I've tried turning off power saving, turning on power saving, turning off WEP, turning on WEP, forcing DNS, dynamic DNS, forcing IP, dynamic IP in basically every order I could think of.

I wouldn't mind seeing your config but I'm not gonna hold my breath! I know the guy who sold me the item gave me exactly what he said he was selling. The problem is the product seems to be crap... =(

Your WAP and WiFi device need to be configured to speak on the same channel (frequency)....

Also, at the risk of insulting you, are you sure that the device and the WAP both have the same SSID?

Thanks for your help guys but I think I've tried every setting on the dumb thing. I had it set both peer to peer and infrastructure. If I set it on peer to peer (which allows me to use a specific channel) I can't even log on to the WAP, with infrastructure I can at least log in. At least it says its logged in.
I have set the SSID to the same as the WAP. It's not such a dumb question, I've read a lot of messages where people didn't do that
