Unhappy Power-outage kills recharger?

A storm caused a power-outage here today while my Prism was recharging in its cradle. Now the unit will not recharge. I'm not sure if the problem is in the cradle (it still hot-syncs) or in the handheld unit (no blinking light, no "lightning bolt" in the launcher screen). I've tried two soft-resets and have checked and re-plugged all connections. No change. I'm dying here....

Is there a way to tell for sure if the failure is in the cradle or in the handheld? What are my options?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Rick

Is your prism still functioning properly I assume?

It may have been a powersurge which killed your charging unit. I assume your compuer is right next to your charger when it happened, does your computer still boot up? Maybe you have a surge protector for the computer but not the charger?

In any case, borrow a charging unit for the Prism and try and see if it recharges. If it does, then the problem lies in the charger/power cable adapter.

My USB port no longer works with my USB drive or USB mouse but it still syncs with my Visor. Go figure. I assume that the ports still work on yours but the recharger stopped working.

Digisane,

Thanks your your reply and advice. I've checked my Prism on another cradle and the handheld blinks and charges, so the problem is with the cradle (which was the only part of my computer system NOT plugged in to the surge-protector). I checked out eBay and found a replacement much cheaper than Handspring's online price, so all will be well shortly.
