Question

As a busy medical student, I've used up all the memory on my VDx with a few big (but very helpful) diagnostic and reference programs.

I want to add memory so I can use a recently downloaded Merck Manual, but need alot more memory.

If I wait for the SixPak, I can get some cool additional features, but after reading the threads here, I'm not sure if this product will ever actually ship. Anyone have suggestions as to whether I should invest $80 for the 8MB or wait, hopefully, until 10/2000 (per Innogear) on the SixPak?

Even if Innogear does start taking orders for October, you can probably add another six weeks to that for backorder status. Get the 8MB Flash module, then eBay it when the SixPak's released.

Incidentally, you may want to contact Merck Reseach to find out if they don't already have plans to do a Merck module. The PDR is already available, and others (Harrison's Principles, Handbook of Adverse Drug Reactions, etc.) are in the works.

Right now the Merck Manual is free at www.handheldmed.com to the 1st 10K who register. Reg. price $110.

Instead of paying $200 for the PDR module check out www.ePocrates.com Their drug data base is free, including updates, and most likely is all anyone would require.

I'd say forget the sixpack. I don't see it coming out any time soon. If you need storage, get it now. I agree with Gameboy70. You might be waiting till Christmas.

Don't wait for the Six Pack. Go ahead and get the flash, you can always sell it or have it still on you for extra, extra memory. You could even make a "medical module" of your own, putting all your medical programs on it.
