Question

I am using the new med lit search engine at the NLM called Gateway. This little puppy will email me the selected references. I use Lotus Notes to segregate these emails into their own folder which syncs with my VDX. I use the standard mail program. I would like to be able to beam these references to my residents and students. I tried to look for a means of beaming these emails and have not found a way. Any suggestions?

TIA

Talking

Maybe this will help.....

Plan 1
There is free program called BeamBox that allows you beam anything on the device, even the hidden progs and dbs. After you install BeamBox, go into the progam and in the right corner select DATA. There is a file called MailDB. This is the db for all your mail. You will only be able to beam the entire file not just certain emails. Also, this will overwrite the maildb on the endusers visor or Palm. This could be a problem. I haven't actually tried beaming that db before but I have used BeamBox and it works really good.

Note: You might have to beam BeamBox to the other user first to send this db.

Plan 2
You can copy and paste the emails (either on the desktop or pda) into Memos and then beam the memos to the other users. The problem with this plan is that if you have a lot of emails that's a lot of copy & paste going on.

I tried the copy/past idea, but for some reason ran out of clipboard on the Visor after one screenful. Not very handy when trying to get several references moved over.

I wonder if I saved the emails as text files on my desktop in a set folder, then I set up an iSilo channel to convert anything in that folder, would I get useful iSilo files? I could beam those easily.

The standard clipboard in the Palm/Visor is limited to like 1000 characters or something like that. Yes, useless is the word. There are some clipboard hacks at palmgear that will allow endless clipboards. But I think your other solution is better. This way you have the files stored individually and can beam those very easily. Instead of isilo you could also save them as a generic palm doc file. That way anybody can get a free doc reader to read them. Even Peanut Reader (now know as PalmReader) can read doc files.

Try this...

http://www.ecamm.com/palm/irmail/

Made to beam individual emails and it's 5 bucks.
