I was wondering if the low price of the eyemodule was due to the fact that the makers of the Eyemodule or another company is comming out with a New and Improved camera module. If you look at Palm; they have done this with their products. I hope we could see a much better camera than the eyemodule soon. I'm willing to pay the original price of the Eyemodule for one.

It could mean that or maybe they aren't selling and they want to get rid of their inventory.

Any thoughts on why it isn't selling. I know why I am not buying one, a camera with a fixed focal length... what good is that... seriously. If they had one with a little better resolution (800x600), and an auto focus, then I would think about it.

it's probably because the technically superior PalmPix is selling for 89.99+free shipping and as low as $67 at Best Buy.

People (like myself) see this and wouldn't pay $149 for the eyemodule.

Yeah, and current owners (count me as one) haven't exactly raved about the quality of E.M. (poor, at best), esp. at $149.
But if they come out w/a ver. II that does video, even @ the same $149, all is forgiven & I'm buying. (C'mon; even most of the PktPC's can't do vid. -- or snap pix, for that matter. See you @ e-bay w/my ver. I.)

BLOCKS / IDEO, IF A VER. II IS IN THE WORKS, PLEASE INCLUDE SOME MEMORY W/IT! EVEN MORE IF YOU'VE ADDED VID! THX.

bkbk:

I have to agree with you about adding stand-alone memory to the Eyemodule. The reason I don't have one is that I simply don't have any memory for it.

Even though it would be bulky, I would really like for it to have it's own batteries & a flash along with it's own memory!

Yeah, even if it's only one of those back-up CR-2032's everybody uses, if they're trying to save space. Maybe they can lay 2 or 4 of them in a butterfly pattern (I think they're like $2 each) if 1 doesn't provide enough "add-on" power to help Visor's AAAs deal w/it (and they sure NEED the help).

I was big on the flash idea initially, too.
But I think just 2x the quality of the CCD cell (or 4x, or whatever) might do the trick...
...I'd really hate to lose that "unobtrusiveness quality" the E.M. now so easily brings.
My 8mm camera's CCD seems to do the trick in virtually all low-light situations, and it's at least a few yrs. old, so I'd think the tech. would've shrunk & increased power by now...

Eyemodule

I think they probably sold real well at the beginnig since it was the first "fun" module available -- No consumers have a few more choices.

homer noted: "I have to agree with you about adding stand-alone memory to the Eyemodule. The reason I don't have one is that I simply don't have any memory for it."

I'm definitely agreeing with you on that one, homer. I'm willing to tolerate the lack of extra features (call it "early adopter syndrome" and confined space of the module slot), but between Peanut Press, Vindigo, AvantGo, WordSmith and a couple of database programs (not to mention a big handful of games), I'm floating at MAYBE an extra Mb left on mine. I can't afford to give up that memory to photos I take on an eyemodule.

If eyemodule 2.0 ("Binocs"? "Bifocal"?) does NOTHING BUT add memory (not even swappable a la CompactFlash, but a built-in one), I'll definitely consider buying it.

Amazon lists the Eyemodule 1 weighing in at .5 lbs, and the Eyemodule 2 in at .61 lbs. Just a thought, maybe that .11 of a lb is a flash, or memory? Hmm...
