Garmin & Palm OS

I saw on the Palm website that Garmin bought a Palm liscense. Anyone know what they've got up their sleeve? I couldn't find anything about it. Thanks,

Sleeves? What Sleeves?

I don't know what they have up their sleeves, but I am rue to find out. I bought a new Mapsource disk for my father's GPS III Plus for Christmas. No hardware compatability warnings printed on the box. I told the seemingly knowledgable sales professional (West Marine) what I had for hardware and he enthusiastically sold it to me. Tried to do the install. Wouldn't load. Sent two emails to customer service (open 9-5PM M-F only), no response. Killed two hours on the phone waiting for technical support. Finally found out that the product simply wasn't compatible with the model that I had. Gee, thank you Garmin!

That was actually my biggest concern about Windows XP registration requirement. I didn't fear talking to a customer service rep abour clarifying my need to reinstall. I did fear waiting in the phone queu for an hour just to get through.

I know the feeling - they have a habit of saying "this product (trip/waypoint) management features will work with most receivers, except models blah, blah, but works best on models blah, blah, and, of course, blah-blah." Gets confusing. I got lucky - I bought the eMap and the GPSmap76, they work with just about all the maps. Which map did you get?

BlueChart Blues

The product I bought was BlueChart, a Mapsource disk with Ocean Navigation charts. Seems the color gradiants aren't compatible with the greyscale screen of the GPS III Plus. Gee whiz; the technical guy knew this instantly....how hard could it be to put it on the box???

I live for the day that I own a company where I can let customers with questions about my product hang on hold for literally hours at a time. Man, am I in the wrong business or what?

Hope it wasn't hard to return - being software and all, especially the way the Mapsource CD's are priced (I've got 3!) Seems like they would have a greyscale version of that - I use mine for lake fishing and city navigation
