Exclamation

I recently got a replacement for my cracked visor. I have a 8 MB Flash Module with all my applications from my old visor. When I put the module in the springboard slot instead of getting the Flash Module icon the screen goes to the settings screen and when I tap on the bottom of the screen to go to the applications I get the following error message:
Fatal Error
DataMgr.c,Line:4188,Err
Removing rec

[Reset]

If anyone can assist me with thd problem I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

I just recieved my 8MB flash module. And to test it, I copied *EVERYTHING* to the flash module, then (gulp), did a hard reset on my visor.

The brainwiped visor successfully reset, but when I put the flash module in to restore the apps, it fataled with the same exception you noted.

I was unable to reload from the flash module until I did a hotsync on my desktop which restored my usual apps. Then the flash module successfully would connect *THEN* I could restore all my apps to the visor from the flash module.

Well sorta... The restore caused a fatal exception when it tried to restore the system prefrences. I bypass these and also turn off hackmaster.

But wait there's more! I am running LauncherIII as my default launcher, and when I attempted to run L3, I crashed AGAIN!

I have reason to believe that the problem (for me) is in L3. I upgraded to the latest version 1.5.2 and had the same results. When I deleted L3 from both the flash module and the visor, I had no problems with wiping the visor then restoring from the flash, though I still had to pass on the system preferences and disable the hacks.

I suspect that when you put the flashmodule which has L3 (or something similar) in, the module will attempt to run it from the module, not visor memory. Many apps will not run from the module memory and crash when they do.

If that is the case with you, then, try hotsyncing to put the launcher program back into the visor memory, then put the flashmodule in to restore the other apps.

Do not attempt to restore L3's programs, icons, or settings. If you do, you'll be looking at the reset screen again.

I'm doing more experiments and looking for more information on L3 and other launchers. If I find something more out, I'll let you know.

Hope that helps!
