Hi,

has anyone evaluated wether it is possible to replace the build in ROMs with new Flash-ROMs? From the hardware aspect this should not be a big problem (I guess but at the moment i dont have a Visor to check this) but whats about the flashloader software? Any chance to get some hack for this issue? Could it be possible to let run the flash-tools for the pilot-platform?

Bye,
Mathias

The Visor doesn't use Flash ROM for the OS like the Palm III and other Palm devices do. The OS is "burned in" on the Visor's RAM and so cannot be replaced. (Handspring says they didn't use Flash ROM because they wanted to keep prices down.)
(I have used Palm OS's 1, 2, 3.0, and now 3.1, and the only reason I upgraded was because I upgraded my handheld--Pilot 1000 w/128K/OS 1.0, 1MB upgrade/OS 1.0, PalmPilot Personal w/512K/OS 2.0, 2MB upgrade/OS 3.0, and now the Visor Deluxe/OS 3.1.)

Uhhhh, no. The visor has ROM, not Flash ROM but ROM. It does not use the RAM for the OS and built-in applications.
