sony tv tuner!!!
By: robert sibell @ 08:35 PM
After reading the article on palminfocenter, it said that a tv tuner might be in the making. OH BOY, i would really want a tv in my palm, really! i cant wait for that to be done. It would even look better on a sony clie than my sony portable tv. My old portatv is ugly, lines going down the screen, and blurry image. With the 16-bit color and high res, it would be like entering another dimension.
AND PLEASE read my post int the thread "Whats on your Clie?" I really need some answers.

Before someone yells at me for this, sorry. I spelled 'quality' wrong, I just hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive my awful mistake.

A tuner would be a neat add-on for the new CLies. The key is quality of the video and the price. If Sony or a third praty can produce a tuner for between $80 to $100 and support the 320x320 resolution. Watch a hell of a lot more people get clies.
Instead of lugging along a portable TV, imagine being at a ball gameand watch/listen to the comentary on your Clie.
My 710+ is anxiously awaiting this tv add-on but its gotta be priced right.

i remember seeing prototypes of their new accesories, but never saw a photo of a tv tuner. They just mentioned it. Do you think they would really make one? I dont think it would be too hard since they already are making portable tv's.

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

I admit, the reputed TV tuner capability of the Clie T415 is of interest to me. (Particularly as the T415 seems to have every single thing I'm interested in having on a Palm, with the exception of color (and hopefully decent buttons.)) It's not a key feature, or something that decides the deal, but it's nifty.
I've had a Philips Pronto for the last couple of years, which is basically a dedicated (and expensive) PDA that allows you to program a number of devices. It's major advantages are that I can design the interface of the remote (on a PC, using an editor program), and back up EVERYTHING to PC -- which means I never worry about it "losing it's brains".
The Pronto's disadvantages are it's price, basically; and the proprietary software. A Palm OS-based PDA with this sort of functionality would be cool (particularly if there's competition providing software for it); but an important thing to remember (unless you're single): someone at home may want to use the PDA with the TV set when you're out with your PDA, doing PDA-stuff.
That's one reason that I still feel the Pronto (at the time) was a good buy.

Are we talking about using a PDA as a IR remote or as a Small TV screen here?
I assumed the lather...
Anyway the IR remote feature is pretty cool allthough I just bought a $200 universal programable remote last month to replace all my remotes... 1 remote that controls them all...

Whoops! I was assuming we were talking about using the PDA as a remote (i.e., the Clie T415 capability.)
Sorry!
