After looking closer at the website PDF file http://www.digital5.com/Total%20Rec...0Sheet%20d5.pdf

I discovered 4 things that I hadn't noticed before. The 'PlugIn' unit (the actual module) will not use the 2AAA batteries. Those are for the 'Stand Alone' Unit that the module plugs into when not in the visor.

The module has its own microphone. So the well placed Visor mic goes unused once again.

The module will stick out the top of the visor slightly (1/4") and slightly out the back (3/8"). Which is acceptable considering it has it's own speaker and such.

Finally, There are 2 models. VN-1850 with 1.5 hours recording capability and the VN-1850E with 3 hours of recording capability.

Considering that i'll still be able to use the visor screen cover (except it won't attach to the back when it's off...module just a bit to tall) I think this is the voice module i'd like to get. The stand alone feature is great for bringing into environments where carrying the whole visor might not be wise or able.

Compared to the whopping 8 MINUTES on the My-vox module, the Total recall looks like a giant!

I couldn't find any additional info on the Global Access/Innogear offering. Which brings up another point.

The 'My-vox' and 'Go-vox' modules on the Visorcentral module list should be combined..considering they essentially come from the same manufacturer..and we haven't heard anything from Landware.

And the Global Access 'Voice Access' and the rumoured Innogear offering are essentially the same thing considering that the two companies market suspiciously the same modules and have done business with eachother in the past.

Which means there are 3 voice recording modules out there.

The unit has its own microphone so that it could be used as a stand-alone, but maybe, just maybe, the designer were smart enough to disable that mic and make use of the visor's when it is plugged into the visor.

Nahhh, that's too useful to actually be true...

Where did you get that info? And you mention that it'll be selling NEXT WEEK???

I got it directly from Global Access. The Infomitt and Access Memory are the modules coming out next week, and the Word Access probably sometime 3Q.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same product. I'll have a review of the MemoryAccess published on Monday. One small difference is that Innogear only sells the InnoPak in Graphite, where RemoteSolution makes the MemoryAccess available in all colors (the unit they sent me was orange).

Unfortunately I don't have the InnoPak for comparison. I'd be interested to know how the noise level compares with the MA (a few people on VC complained about the InnoPak being noisy). With the MA, the noise levels for Light and Normal settings are pretty unobtrusive.

But in terms of features, the MemoryAccess is exactly the same: 2MB Flash, vibrating alarm and File Mover software. I wouldn't be surprised if InnoGear licensed the techology.

Doesn't the Memory Access have an flashing LED alarm?

The Access Memory comes in all 5 colors and has LED, Vibrating alarm, and 2MB. The IP/2V only has the vibrating alarm and the 2MB. The AM also seems to have more alarm options.

I'm not sure about the AM having more alarm options, other than the LED. There are no additional sound alerts on the card. But oddly, I seem to remember an older user manual PDF on SpringboardAccess.com that showed options for sound alarms. The document is no longer on the website (the current PDF on the site is only a brochure). But when you go into MemoryAccess Config, it only gives you the option to replace the Visor's sound alerts with LED, vibrating alarm or both.

More options as to what alarms go off. If you look at the screenshots in my IP/2V review, the vibrating alarm is either on or off. The Memory Access screens I saw at PC Expo let you set any combo of vibrating/LED/normal, so I can have the LED and audio go off at the same time.

I think it's an excellent idea to provide a microphone right on the module. That way, I wouldn't have to pull the Visor out of the slipcase just to record a simple message. That Visor mic is in the wrong place!
