Question

Has there been a way yet to be able to surf the internet with the VDx in the USB Cradle? I hear rumors that Mocha is going to eventually support it, then I hear Mocha isn't.. then that there is a Linux program that if you can get USB to work successfully under Linux you can surf the internet from your cradle.

Otherwise, I have a DSL modem, and I want to be able to use my Visor while in the USB Cradle to surf the internet on a Win98SE Machine. Is this currently possible?

Does anyone know if this is even possible? Someone can reply a maybe, or some more information. Yes or No is even acceptable.

I do not believe this is currently possible. I have to ask why, though? If you're at your desktop, why wouldn't you just use it to surf the net? There's just no comparison between the desktop and the Visor for surfing...

I occasionally find myself wishing I could just connect through the cradle when testing web pages in AvantGo, or other TCP/IP software without having to install it on my visor, plug in the modem springboard, dial up, etc... but you can do all of that with the Palm Emulator anyway, so it's not a big deal.

Exclamation The Reason..

A big reason is because I only have one computer, occasionally I play the MMORPG EverQuest, which will not let you do anything else except play the game. If you try to Alt-Tab out of the game occasionally you'll crash it, or it won't let you use anything and you normally can't get back into it. That is why I was asking because there is occasionally some information I want to collect for different things. I may just end up making a database eventually and give up on the Internet and USB Cradle idea, but it was worth a shot to ask.

Post No.

I think your question is somewhat related to the thread Palm VNC Questions. On Win98, you can use Direct Cable Connection and the magic number 00 to dial into Windows (then use a proxy server-like piece of software to manage requests) if you have a serial cradle. I've heard of cases of this working, but no, I don't think it's possible with USB without another program specifically for that purpose.
