I already have a NETZERO account and imagine it can be configured for access via Thincom/VDX but would like to hear the success stories of those of you that actually travel with a free ISP. Was reading that Juno had a PDA setup for access and I know Freewwweb has become a gone.com. Any recommendations/suggestions/thoughts?

Found a good resource at DAVEINFOPAGE but would like to gather more knowledge on the subject.

I've been able to get freei.net to work for the web and sending email. Haven't been able to get it to allow reading of email. I use Multimail Pro. I've also gotten Yahoo mail to be able to be downloaded and read, but not uploaded. So, I use freei.net to send mail, and yahoo to read it. Not very convenient, but it works. Have had little success with bluelight.com and netzero, even following the instructions you refer to.

I have had no trouble with the "Thinmodem" and FreeInet for both web browsing and e-mail.

I have used Juno and Alta Vista. I heard Netzero has too long of a username.

Anyone want to sell their ThinModem?

Does anyone here want to sell their ThinModem? If not, where are you all purchasing your ThinModem? Can you get it at BestBuy or do you have to get it via an online retailer? How much do they run?

I've seen the Thincom modem at CompUSA, but I don't remember the price right now.

I've got the HS modem and it works while traveling, just call the home number. The company is paying the hotel bill.

From a company with many 'road warriors', we have seen success with many free ISP's, even while traveling to past shows, etc. However, I can't name any at the moment -- and that's exactly my point...

In other words, you kinda get what you pay for. You may get a working configuration for a free ISP, but it may not necessarily work somewhere else, or sometime else for that matter. For a traveler, where murphy's law is in full effect (ask any road warrior), that's usually one variable you can do without!

No doubt, use a free ISP if you can, but be prepared while you're traveling (my opinion).
