Which ISP?

Which ISP do you use to connect to the internet with your Nokia?

I'm new to this forum, but have been involved with this problem involving PalmOS connection with the Nokia-7160 using Cingular wireless on other sites for some time now, including mywirelessweb.com and tekreview.com where I have posted this information already (I am not an expert in this matter, but derived this information from communications with specialists involved.) This may shed some light on what the problem is, and how to get it fixed for everybody. I'll try to be brief...

When the connection didn't work for me, I contacted Cingular, Nokia, and handspring, and ultimately only Nokia knew what the problem was.
According to them, Cingular has a system setting which is incompatible with PalmOS. The Palm connection automatically sends to the modem in the 7160 a Hayeslike command ATS7=90, which sets the modem's timeout register to 90 seconds, that cannot be changed by the user. Some Cingular carriers are set to accept timeouts of only 50 seconds or less, so the call attempt ends with a 0x1105 ERROR (if you're getting a 0x1102 error, you also don't have data services enabled, so you would need to have Cingular add the Wireless internet, or WAP services to your account.)

It looks like some Cingular carriers have this setting fixed, or maybe never had it wrong to begin with. It still doesn't work in my area of Connecticut, and apparently in many other regions as well. Hopefully, this information will influence those affected to mass email Cingular in an effort to get them to take necessary steps to correct this problem for everyone.
