Question

Recently, I have run into a problem with my Prism. It has been great... and this is somewhat minor, but I wonder if others have found this at all. Sometimes when I turn my Prism on, either by the power, or any of the other buttons, the screen does not light up for up to a minute. It seems to happen when it is colder, but as consistantly, as I would think.

I am sure that the Prism is on, it clicks when I hit buttons (hard buttons, and the silk screen buttons) as it should. Sometimes I can force it on by holding the power button down to get the brightness... it always seems to turn on when I do that.

I am thinking of sending it back, and getting a replacement... but I don't really want to do that, because of a concern about starting a whole replacement scenerio where it takes me months to finally get a decent one. Anybody know what might be doing this, or anybody else have this happen to them?

Oh ya, it didn't start happening right after loading a program, or a hack. I do run some hacks... Afterburner, Font Hack, McPhling, and Easy Launch, but those were all running a while before this started happening.

This has never happened to mine. Definately sounds like a Hardware issue to me, not that I am an expert. If I was the owner, I would probably see about getting a new one. When I pay this much for something I want it to be right. I know there have been some horror stories about Prism's, but I am on my second and both have been great. I would still have my first but I dropped it. The point is, I see no reason why a replacement would be defective. If you are getting HandSpring to replace it, I would politely specify a new unit rather than a refurbished. Good Luck.

Thanks GSR... I figured I would probably return it. You are right in that the new one will most likely be OK, surely they have worked out some of the bugs by now.

Thanks again.
