Angry

After losing all my data on a business trip, I thought I'd solve my problems by getting the 8 meg backup module. I've been able to backup once, but each time I try to restore the data (or backup again, for that matter) the backup stalls at the 'Verifying databases' process.

I've tried several times (even returning what I thought was a faulty backup module to Office Depot...) and have waited up to half an hour to see if the module will work.

I read a similar question on Visor Village, so maybe this is a recurring problem with the backup module.

Any ideas?

thanks,
Iain Cook

Have you tried doing a soft reset? That solves my problems about 95% of the time.

Thanks for the info. I've tried both a soft and warm reset, to no avail.

I had the Flash Module which got fried on me. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it (perhaps an extraneous driver which is preventing the module slot to work properly...)

Of course, I've emailed Visor technical support, with no reply yet...

If you haven't tried this one already, maybe disable any hacks you have installed, then re-enable them one at a time to see if one of them is your culprit?

thanks again for the hint, but nope, still doesn't work!

i'm thinking as a last resort that i would erase all the info from the visor, and then try again (which really defeats the purpose of the backup module, if you ask me!)

I've found a hardcore solution to my problem. Take the batteries out for half an hour. Then go through the laborious process of re-installing everything.

Then the Backup Module works. :-(

Try the freeware/shareware (I forgot which it was) program called BackupAll is sets all backup bits on your visor. so the next time you Sync it wil make backups on you PC....
then try a 'battery-remove'boot... it will save you a lot of work...

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

I have a similar problem with the stalled backup and narrowed it down to dbscan. If I remove it and soft reset, I can backup. If I leave it loaded, I can't.

It is a pain, but works for me...

Red face

I use dbscan 1.1a and have no problems with b/u module.
