Question

Is Visorcentral.com growing too fast? Who the hell is Staff? What happen to good old days when a name was attached to all news articles?

I have a strong feeling the "Staff" Is someone like Mark, or a Peracto employee. They don't have full posting privliges .(To post articles we e-mail them to marcus), but we can get the generic "Staff" prilivges. Staff has been around ssence the beginning, there are sevral news back from 99 that are labled staff.

VC IS NOT GETTING IMPERSONAL!
I think that we are actually ge3tting more personal.. Al lthe writers for VC, are always on the Borads, reading everything responding. We often refrence VC membor's posts etc.. in reviews and articles.

VC isn't growing that fast to.. We get about 50 new membors a day, up from the 28 a day we were getting in Nov 2000. (My own statistics.. unofficial)

That's not too many people.

Actually, I think this was just a simple oversight when the article was posted. As miradu2000 said, only marcus and James can post news items and reviews.

As for the impersonal comment, I appreciate your candor but want to say that, as far as I know, this is the first time something like this has happened. This isn't going to sound the way I want it to, but I think you're jumping the gun just a bit. A simple "hey, guys, is this a mistake?" might have been more appropriate.

Ok, I stand corrected. But I still don't see what the big deal is. Is it that important to know who posted a news item? I think the content is what matters most. Again, I don't know the mechanics involved regarding news postings, but the only thing missing when "Staff" is used is the ability to email the author... perhaps that's easy to fix.

I have to admit that when I saw the "by staff" I too was disappointed. I enjoy knowing who writes the news and reviews.

Don't worry, we're not getting impersonal. I still try to reply to most of the email that I get, and you will always see the author on any review or article.

I can't go into the reasons that there may be times when you see an author of a news item as "Staff" during the work week, but if you see any typos you can always email myself or Marcus.

I'd second the thought that we aren't growing impersonal. Keep in mind...to keep a site like this running...it takes a lot of work from a lot of different people. I still answer every email I get from anyone who writes me.

I joined VC originally because of the quality of the site and the great community vibe. I don't think that has changed at all.

One other thing...not many sites actually post the email address of their writers. I think it is great that we don't hide behind our servers.

And I like it th at way. IT's so great that after I write an article, to come home from school and see 20 e-mails in my inbox! (I filter out all my junkmail.. so it's never in my inbox)

Visorcentral IS a cummunity, and we would be a lot different if James was jsut a writer, if marcus never showed his face, and if Mark wasn't allowed to be a mod.

Not only that, VC is a home. (now I'm talking crazy..!)

AND not only this.. but,,, DRUMROLL PLEASE

-miradu2000
FIVE HUNDRED POSTS!
500!
500!
500!
500!
1/3.5 of Mark EAGLE! yeah!!!
that is all.

I know very well that if someone sent you an iPAQ (for free) you would happly accept, and a week later you and I would be on the same side: Loving this Comunity and trying to be a part of it, while useing our ipaqs; not that it's a bad thing mind you, but you know....

as for the new jordana, the only 'awesome' thing about it is that it is cheep, which I supose is important to palm users (pun intended)......

Heck, I'm still just a member, despite answering the FAQ emails. Haven't yet made staff status heheh.

P.S. Anyone have FAQ ideas?

Here are some FAQ's I have received:

How do I remove third party software?

Any ways to keep maximum free memory on Visor deluxe?
The old Palm Pro had a smooth backlight background with subjectively more light vs. Visor deluxe with rough backlight background and less light. Why is this?

Any way to share both palm and visor on one desk program?

I know there is a problem with the Flash Manager.Any way around this

More info on the Hackmaster and the Hack Programs.

Is it true that only four applications can be run at one time on the Visor?

I have Outlook on one computer and Sync it with my PALM III. I purchased another (addtional) computer with Outlook...but cannot Sync my Palm to the new unit. I have been advised that I need to dowm load "Pocket Mirror 2.0 Outlook Addition" to solve my problem. I have been unable to find the means to accomplish this feat. Can you assist me?
