Smile www.seamonkeys.com

Talked to my 5 year old grandson today and wanted me to look up seamonkeys on the web. OK.
But when I went to this site, I found it's a search engine I had never heard of before. Cool stuff, PDA, etc. NO sea monkeys, per se.

Thought you guys might be interested.

Funny!

I have had the same set of real sea monkeys at my desk for about 4 months now. Great conversation piece. I never remember them lasting for more than a couple of weeks when I was a kid... I kinda bought them as a gag gift and wound up taking care of the critters. Anyone esle have/had 'em (I know. It's kinda off topic/kinda on topic)

www.seamonkeys.com is one of a number of squatter seach sites. They quietly acquire similar or plural versions of well-known trademarks in order to generate traffic.

The actual Sea Monkey website is: http://www.seamonkey.com/
or http://www.sea-monkey.com/

egad, they've been around for 40 years.

Yeah, they were on the back of comic books and it was this COOL Sea Monkey family, the dad, mom and sea monkey kids all with those crown-looking things.

and then...after much waiting...anticipation...bugging of Mom...mailbox opening and peering inside....the actual Sea Monkeys arrived....what a jip...

JIP? These things are on their 5th generation already. I've got about 50 of the suckers flying around right now. Best $8 I've spent in some time. You can't even get a screen protector for that amount (had to tie in Visors somehow). They have become our workteam's mascot, and I frequently get visitors checking to see their well being.

I do admit, they aren't quite as endearing looking as those cutesy charicatures on the box, with dresses, crowns, and pitchforks. Who thought that up anyway?

On a side note 40 YEARS! holy cow!

Well, now (looking back) they might not be a jip from a more for your money standpoint....but as a kid, it was Mom or Dad's money and I was promised CROWNS and TRITONS!!
Oh, well...

I, too, was lured by the Swiss Family Sea Monkey as a child. As K.C. said, they never quite resembled those ads in the comics.

Then, I was introduced to the pleasure of fresh-water aquariums. As I got more involved in raising and breeding tropical fish, imagine my dismay upon learning that those brine shrimp sold at the local pet shop were related to my beloved Sea Monkey's!!! After about 15 minutes of horror (plus the exhileration of seeing my fish devour those little critters), I quickly overcame my fears...

Now, as a parent, I've had to endure the ads on the backs of comic books being shoved under my nose by my children. The last batch we had were raised specifically as fish food. It's a cruel, cruel world out there!

Oh, and by the way, since this has drifted off topic, I moved it appropriately...

Cannibals, I say! Cannibals, every last one of your fish. Hope they get one of the Tritons or crowns caught in their cannibalistic chompers! Better yet, I've got a few 1" seamonkeys that'll show your tropical guppies a thing or three. If I could only set up my EM2 as a webcam....

I gotta ask... do you sit there in the dark with a flashlight and watch them perform? Be honest now... it's ok, you're among friends...

You'll find that a laser pointer works much better than a flashlight. Not that I've tried it or anything.
