In the regular PalmPilot version of OmniRemote the screen flips 180 degrees, but supposedly they added a 90 degree flip to support the Visor in the 1.15beta. So maybe the software detects whether you're using a Visor or Palm and only lets you flip the screen the right way for your PDA?

Why would you flip a PP 180 degrees? Wouldn't that mean the IR is on the wrong side?

In regard to the guy saying this"The software works, but the range (Visor to TV) is limited to about 6 inches. " SO how much realistically is it? Some people say 20' and the others say 6" what is it? Please tell me. I am seriously thinking of buying it. But if it is 6" I never will.

Babylon5: Thanks for the info! That is great to know that it can be flipped 90 degrees!

Eug: Because of the dismally poor range of the built-in IR on the PalmIII (3COM improved it on the 2MB upgrade card and on subsequent Palm models), the original Omniremote for the Palm also provided support for an add-on external IR from the same company (Pacific Neo-Tek) that attaches to the serial (hotsync) port. Hence, the 180 degree flipping of the screen...

Lightbulb

Lightbulb on! I see. Thanks Visordoc. Hopefully we won't need that extra IR thingy.

Just wanted to report on the distance: my OmniRemote works just fine from across the room, about 10ft. Based on the documentation, room lights might affect the distance the pda is effective. I wondered about using my visor as a remote, but like has been said here, I find I know exactly where my visor is, while I can never find that dang remote!
