software install

I cannot get my visor to install programs from the install box when I hotsync. They are listed in the box to be installed, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Greg Holley

Check to see if the install conduit is enabled or not. Click on the Hotsync manager in the tool-tray, then Custom... Then check the Conduit entitled "Install". If it says "Do Nothing" double click on it, select "Install handheld applications" and check "Set as default". Press "OK" and "Done" and try again.

Are you syncing more than one PDA to your machine? You could have the wrong User Name selected.

If that is not it, are you installing items that end with .PRC?

Also, make sure you look in the Unfiled Category, as that is where applications are placed after install.

If none of these fix your problem, please attempt to provide more information. Perhaps the applications you are trying to install and the logfile contents.

did you close the install box before syncing? If it is open, the install conduit won't look there for programs to transfer.

I am trying to install these at my work computer. I have installed the palm software on it and have a separate username here. Do I need to change something on the Visor itself for the different username and computer?

The username for my work computer is not listed on my visor. How do I change that option?

The PalmOS does not support multiple users. You can sync to two computers but the username on the Visor (you can only have one) must be the same username that is in Palm Desktop on both computers.
