Is the Prism worth it??

Hi all, I am currently a Deluxe user and am thinking about upgrading up to a Prism. I am planning on purchasing the VisorPhone within the next couple of days as well. I have seen some Prism going anywhere between 150 - 250 on ebay and was wondering it is truly worth me spending the money for the color. Any feedback you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Color Rulz!

Yes. It is worth it, IMHO. I had a Visor Plat. since they were released. It served me well. I recently snagged a Prism for $170, though, and I don't think I could go back to gray/b&w. The color is most definitely worth it. I just got a SD Memplug with a 128MB SD card as well. Memory limit isn't an issue now.

I say go for the color. You'll love it.

I've noticed CompUsa has refurbs posted on their website again, this time for $169.99

Fry's...

I picked up my Prism at Fry's Electronics for $169 (refurb). I could not go back to grayscale, but be aware the color is terrible in sunlight. Outside, I can't even tell the Prism is turned on. That is my only complaint. As I don't use it outside much anyway, it isn't a problem for me. I would still take it any day over a Deluxe or Platinum.

My 2 cents.

If you look at the competition, a Prism is very much so, worth it.

I got my Prism last month, cause it was on major sale, $149.99 (and I got Officemax to use an online coupon for another $30 off)

So I got mine for $119.99.

But even if you look at $199.99. What other 8meg-DZ 33MHz-64k color screen-PDA can you touch for under $200?

A Palm m130? ($249.99) A Palm 505 ($289 - with the crappiest backlight I have EVER seen)

I Picked up a V90 Xircom springboard modem on eBay (New in Box) for $35.

Im a sucker for a "deal". But look at the Prism screen, I liked it better then the m130 (the Prism's is larger).

Yes, it's worth it!

I got in on the CompUSA refurb deal back in June for $139 and have been smitten ever since. I couldn't ask for a better handheld for the price. I love it so much I got one the day after I lost my first.

Check the Ebay store ReturnBuy as they frequently have Prisms for $139. Just checked the CompUSA website and they are sold out.

Prisms are great! The only two things that keep them from being practically perfect are the screen in sunlight (as already mentioned) and the thicker form-factor that both makes it harder to find a good case for (although Vaja's are wonderful!) and makes it feel 'clunky' to some users.

Although I have 'upgraded' to a Clie T615, I would have stayed with my Prism if I had not found such a great deal!

Talking Get One!!

Hey,

The other day I was in the Sony Store and people asked me what I was playing with. I was taking pictures of the new sony models with my eyemodule2. I showed them and they put down the demos that they were looking at and took a look at mine. We compared the backlight and mine was much brighter. I would say now is the time to get a handspring in general they are very cost effective. Just my two cents.

Ok, in comparison to the "other" guys, a Prism is the way to go. What about TREO? I'm sure there are people who've switched Prism for TREO, which is the better?

Value, a Prism can be picked up for about 150. Treos can be had for under 300 on ebay, and many have a lot of the accessories on board already. Even though I've converted my DLX to rechargeable (http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/...2596655,00.html) , I'm itching for that color screen.

My biggest stumbling block is losing three years worth of modules if I go to the TREO.

For $300 plus, I went with a Sony Clie 665. It was $399 (then used BestBuy 10% off coupon) made it $360 with a $25 rebate.

Why pay over 300 for a 160x160 res screen, and 33MHz cpu, and only 12bit (4,000 colors)

I have the 665, and am going to keep the Prism, for the springboard modules.

But my 665 has 320x320 res screen, and a 66MHz cpu with 16bit(65,000 colors)

I just plain dont like the new Treo line.
