Arrow infosync.com

Infosync.com seems to just be a flash animation with 'coming soon.' But Infosync.no is working.

JUICY. This is happening a lot faster than I thought it would. What about the rumored "m525?" Any new news on that?

As Mr. Burns (Simpsons) would say..."Exxxxcellent".

Actually, the OS 5 moniker is somewhat of a misnomer. It should be called OS 1 because it is entirely a new operating system. The transition from OS 4 to 5 is almost as dramatic as the move from DOS to Windows. I have a massive wish list of features I would like to see added to the platform, so I can't wait to see OS 5.

There are some really cool technologies that Palm will inherit from the BeOS landscape. I just hope that Palm has the capital to bring forth this OS in a timely manner.

Either way you slice it, 2002 is going to be the most exciting year in the history of the Palm platform. To quote the late George Harrison.."Here comes the sun"

What is a translator? And will all current palm apps be compatible with OS 5?

As I understand it, a translator is a library that would allow any program to access file types associated with it.

Probably in an emulated mode.

IIRC, Palm "demo'd" an OS 5 unit using an ARM processor many, many months ago (a year ago, maybe?) at one of the conferences. It wasn't really much of a demo, though. There were two palms, one with OS 4 (I think) and one with OS 5, at least some part of it. The user played an app (a game?) on the OS 4 unit, then beamed it to the OS 5 unit and played it there, too, to demonstrate compatibility. Does anyone else remember this, or am I suffering from pre-holidays delusions? If I have this right, my only real surprise is that it's taken Palm this long to put out OS 5. And I read that the m525 will not use it (which makes sense, given the numbering).

The 'demo' was literally just a demo. It wasn't OS5, just a stand-alone Dragonball emulator running on a StrongArm unit. OS5 as a product doesn't exist yet.

So I am suffering from pre-holidays delusions. But hey, that was my 100th post! (Guess I gotta get a life now. )
