I upgraded my Visor Plat inum with the OS v1.1 updater and I can't beam to a Palm IIIxe, but I can beam to another Handspring unit. I don't recall the problem occurring before I updated with the patch, so I'm wondering whether the patch is the problem.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

I'm going to remove the patch from my vpl and see what happens...I'll report my findings here.

Ignore the post above. When I tried to delete the patch, I was unable to find it and realized that it was not even on my Visor. I can't be certain, but my Visor did crash at some point and I needed to hard reset and restore with a backup module. My last backup probably did not include the patch.

I reinstalled the patch, and the problem remained. When I tried to use Beam Box (a 3rd party app), my Visor crashed, and so I had another hunch. I removed Beam Box, and tried another beam. Beaming was successful. So the problem was not NOT the patch.

However, there does seem to be a conflict with Beam Box and the patch.

Of course. It actually begins to receive my beam, but about 10 seconds into beaming, my Platinum gives me the error.

My friend's Platinum is able to beam just fine to the IIIxe, and I can beam just fine to his Platinum.

Anyway, it was premature of me to suspect the patch. I just tried to delete it only to find that it was no longer on my system. It was somehow deleted. So it could not have been the problem to begin with. I'll need to disable all of my hacks the next time I try to beam to the IIIxe.

Thanks though. I'll update with my findings once I'm able to test again.

What version?

You said you upgraded you Visor *PLATINUM* ?
And you upgraded with OS1.1?

The problem may be that you are going back to an older version of Palm OS

The Visor Platinum comes with OS 3.5h

Hope this solves your problem.

You're kidding right?

Sorry, I should have said "OS updater v1.1" and not "OS v1.1 updater". v1.1 refers to the version number of the updater--NOT the OS.

There is no way to change the Visor's OS to an old OR new version, as all Visors come hardwired with their OS in ROM.
