Let me first start by saying that I think brand loyalty isn't necessarily a bad thing; as far as that goes, I am a staunch Handspring supporter, user and fan. I would love to get a Prism but unfortunately a friend of mine just bought me a Vaja case for my HS Visor Deluxe and VisorPhone. So I can't justify moving up to one just yet.
I am also a Sony fan, but only in the video game and television realm (they make some of the finest TVs!). They would be more viable in the handheld market, I think, if they got away from the use of proprietary technology like MagicGate cards and MemorySticks. That really decreases usefulness for the customer, who the company should focus on the most and not try wring every dollar they have out of them. Unless you own a Sony digicam, a Sony camcorder, A Sony laptop, a Sony desktop, a Sony mp3 player and whatever else Sony has placed MemoryStick slots on, then you are at a loss. At least with other manafacturers like HS and Palm, they use standardized formats that are used by many other manafacturers, for example the MemPlug's CF and SM card use. I do think all things like this should be kept in perspective.
From a purely economical standpoint, it would behove you to stick with HS because you have so many accessories for it. You would have to do little in the way of upgrading. Is the Prism really just totally unsuitable for what you want to do?
