Neo display streaked in 4-bit grayscale

2-bit grayscale looks fine, but when I view images or play games in 4-bit, the screen has streaks and flickers.

Software tried:
FireViewer 6.0 e.g. MonaLisa16
Billiards 3.0

The above software looks fine on my friend's m105. I HAVE tried adjusting the CONTRAST every which way and it doesn't help.

I have also, done hard resets and loaded the programs individually to find any offending program - no difference.

I already returned one Neo, the one I have now is only slightly better. I'd like to stick with the Neo but this is unacceptable!

Anybody else have this problem - please help.

Thanks,
Rob Terro

Have you tried "streakhack." It's a little program that might solve your problem. It requires xmaster to run. You'll find them both on palmgear.com

Thanks for your reply, I had already tried those hacks: 'nostreak', 'streakhack', 'afterburner' - while they did change the display rates, none of them solved the problem.

I sent a message the HS support and got a pretty generic response, I responded back and another tech, gave me the exact same initial response again - pretty brutal - and insulting - do these guys even read the emails? I'm giving up for now, and evaluating a Palm M505 - no graphics problems here - so we'll see...

I'm still curious though if all the Visor's (non Prism) are like this...

Sounds like you got 2 bad Neos. My Neo is just fine with no streaking, so it's not the Neo, just the two you've gotten.

Thanks Dana,

Well I'm glad yours works properly. I was quite fond of my Visor, but now friend is it thinking of buying my Neo, it's still under exchange period - so we'll see...

regards

Mess around with the contrast a bit. I've found with my deluxe and plat that the streaking is much worse when the contrast is darker... it virtually goes away when you lighten it up a bit..

Lightbulb How to fix the flicker and streak with Afterburner.

Set the LCD/n to 1 and check the box next to it for the best viewing. There is an item called LCD/2 that requires a MHZ setting, set this to Never. If you have an item labelled Gray make sure it is off.

Hope this helps.

I had similar problems but it seemed that some pictures were the cause. Some photos were fine while others streaked.

Anyway, the reason for my post was to say that Dataviz recently sent me an upgrade notice that an upgrade was available (free) for my documents to go. I downloaded the upgrade and found it included a new feature called pictures to go. I installed the upgrade and the pics to go and the pictures are really great. This is one neat program. No streaking, contrast and brightness are just right.
