Thanks to everyone with your informative posts on connecting my visor to my 8290 via IR. I have just discovered that Cingular charges an extra $5 a month to enable the SIM card's data/fax mode. That is in addition to the 15 cents a minute they charge for data calls. Needless to say, I will not be using my 8290 for data anytime in the near future. *sigh*

Yeah, I know. Sucks, doesn't it? When will these phone companies realize they can make more money by getting people to use the service, and they get people to use the service by charging a flat monthly fee and letting users eat up their minutes browsing with their phones/PDAs?
