Yahoo! mail

Greetings all,

For those of you out there who access Yahoo! Mail via your Visors (wireless or wireline), which applications do you use? What have you found that works best or is most reliable.

I tried using One Touch (it came with the wireless applications CD from Handspring) but it kept giving me fatal errors. The Yahoo! Mail channel in AvantGo loads quickly, but it isn't always reliable. Sometimes when I try to dial in, I get a generic Yahoo screen with no access to anything.

Using Blazer to go to MyYahoo page has been the most reliable for me (almost no failure), but it can be tedious waiting for everything to load up and going through all the screens, when all I want is the text data and the messages.

Any ideas would be great.

I have mine subscribed to Yes! Mail (Or somethign similar sounding) which gives me POP access, allowing me to use normal mail clients - I use Eudora. The only bad thing is that now and then it seems to go down, like recently its stopped accepting my password? Its done it before though...usually fixes itself.

I've found the Yahoo! Mail client in AvantGo's 'My Wireless' channels to be the most reliable, even moreso than the PQA. That being said, I wouldn't call the service very reliable overall... I would say it's usually down 25% of the time I try to check it with my VisorPrism/Cables4PDAs.com cable/Motorola StarTAC connection. It wasn't available at all for nearly two weeks about a month ago!

Here's another vote for Eudora.

I've been using Browse-it (which came with my Thinmodem+) for both wireline and wireless connections, and I haven't had a problem checking my Yahoo account with it yet.

How did people find a Yahoo! Mail channel for Avantgo? I've done a couple of searches of the Avantgo channels and haven't seen anything.

Same here. They claim that you will be added to advertising lists and get spam as a result, but in the 4 or 5 months that I have had it this way, I don't think I have received anymore junk mail than I usually do.

I vote for Blazer

OmniSky has a very simple set up for Yahoo! mail, but I prefer Blazer (and not everyone has OmniSky, obviously). If you want Blazer to load more quickly, click on the drop down menu, tap "Options," then "Preferences" and finally "Images." You can choose how much color you want, or if you want any images at al. I personally keep mine set at 256 colors, which looks spectacular but does take some time to load, but the fastest is "No Images."

And the great thing about Blazer is that youdon't have to wait for the entire page to load once you get to the link that you want. Plus it's about 4 times faster than OmniSky.

Smile

I use for any POPMail the MultiMailPro 3.1. So far i know, it was the first client for PalmOS, who can handle more than one account. The only bad thing on this client is, that you have to access the accounts serial. Maybe, the developer wants to give us a new version with access for all accounts in a row. But since i bought the prog (more than one year ago), unfortunately no update was released But at all, itLs still a fine one.
