Target discontinuing Handspring products does not necessarily mean 'bye bye Neo'. Every store has to decide what to give shelf space to and what to drop. HS apparently just does not sell well at Target- although based on our local stores, it is easy to see why.
Our local Target carries these in a locked display back in a corner behind the cameras counter. The display is a non-functional dummy unit and 'point of sale' advertising/info is pretty minimal.
On an endcap, they carry lots of Palm M-100's and other low-end Palms in clamshell packaging for about $70 regular price (when the Neo was on sale at $99). Because of the way things were set up, it was difficult to compare the two things feature for feature so I bet most people never knew that the Neo has 4 times the memory of the M-100.
You need a clerk to open the case and get you a Neo, but anyone can grab the Palm.
In a stunning display of odd merchandising, Target also carries a couple Palms in the stationary dept, which is where most of the cases are. There are also cases in luggage and camping, some accessories in autotive/cell phones, and in the cameras area.
Personally, I think whoever is in charge of Target's computer and related electronics division should be fired- they do a pretty mediocre job in that deptartment in most of the stores I have been in.
On the other hand- you gotta love those clearance prices!
