Question

Has anyone ever tried using the stuff designed to remove CD scrathes (which works pretty well) on an LCD screen? Would anyone recommend for or against it?

As a matter of fact, I made that big leap of faith just last week.

This is after (don't laugh) attempting to polish my poor, scratched screen with toothpaste a few times first.

I used a small packet of Maxell CD scratch remover (comes with a cheesecloth for about $1, good for 10 CDs they claim) and the results are rather inconclusive:

* No apparent HARM to the screen, either visibly or in digitizer functionality

* Large scratches seemed to be pretty much unaffected, though I no longer FEEL them as the stylus passes over them

* Smaller scratches MAY be reduced, but not significantly

* Screen sure is SHINY now though!

I may try some other brand/type of remover, or go the TurtleWax route. But overall, I'd say that this Maxell product was no better than the toothpaste approach.
