1) same screen has palm III series, visor's scratches too easily

2) updatable OS

3) stronger ir

I would say that the backlight is fine, it workds great for me.

- Make the up/down buttons concave (like the app buttons), so that I can press them with the stylus.

- Stop the calculator from coming up when I'm trying to scroll down.

- Make the backlight iluminate the graffiti area.

-I wish handspring chose to use the same hotsyncing port that the palm's use. There are so many different devices that palm users can add to the bottom of their pilot.

- a scroll wheel instead of 2 scroll buttons

- more hardware buttons that could be mapped: the fewer times I pull out a stylus the better.

- an audio out/headphone jack: for playing games without annoying others or to hook up to a stereo so that you don't sleep through your alarms.

I think that the Palm devices should have a side-mounted thumbwheel for scrolling, similar to the (gasp) WinCE devices.

Just my $.02.

seansean was right in his earlier posting - the IR on the Visor IS enhanced - I have tried both a Palm IIIe, Palm IIIx and the Visor together and the Visor's IR is DEFINITELY more powerful than on the Palms - try it out for yourself if you don't believe me. The Visor's IR range is easily double that of the Palms - as seansean has mentioned, it can go up to 30feet no problem.

-better backlight
-backlight covers the graffiti area also
-hotsync that works everytime
-of course, better stylus. Just make the premium metal stylus standard stylus.

True, but making the Visor compatable with those devices would force Handspring to abandon USB hot-synching, which I at least would miss.
