I read somewhere (the Gadgeteer, maybe) that the M100's screens are made of plastic of some form or another. It'd be interesting to find out if their screens are more resistant to damage.
And Warman, I don't care if you do go away mad, as long as you go away.

I think both the screen and the touchscreen parts can get damaged. The touchscreen scratches, while the screen shatters.

You'd think that both of these could be make out of a tougher material, though.

Of course, that could raise the price, and, after all, PDAs are 'almost' (a little exaggeration, perhaps) to the point of being expendable ala your $7 calculator.

Remember light pens? That was a technology (I believe) dependant on CRT screens, but you'd think that there's be some other alternatives to touch screen technology on the horizon.

And, dammit, the screen shouldn't shatter when I drop it!

I realize that just by posting to this thread, I'm entering the fray - the very thing I told myself NOT to do...

I wouldn't bother trying to get this thread closed - "War" man will just start another one. I think the only way to get him to go away, is to simply ignore him - even when he says something that just really ticks us off:

Just Ignore Him

I've followed this topic for a while now, even back in the days, and now Warman is only getting people more aggrivated, and It seems to me that there is only one solution, If we ignore him, dont respond to his posts and such, he will have nothing left to respond to and hopefully will just dissapear into the night. Anyway, thats just my 2 cents.

Close the thread and ban Warman

James,

I don't think that anyone who has been as inflammatory as Warman has been in the past, and is obviously trying to be again, should be allowed to post again on the board.

The reason for his post is abundantly clear: He is a bully looking for attention, and he feels important when he gets people mad at him.

When the other thread got closed, the discussion died, the focus shifted off of him, and this thread is his way of jumping up and down and throwing a tantrum to get noticed.

Please close it, and ban him from the site. He's had enough chances to make a decent post (which he obviously can't do) and to engage in a meaningful discussion (which he refuses to do) and to help people out (which the discussion board should do, and he cares nothing about).

I hate it when people quote long passages, but on this one I feel I must. When I made the suggestion that you discuss your patent in the Off-Topic forum, I put the emphasis on discuss. Posting obvious flamebait for the sole purpose of getting other readers angry is of no benefit. Grammatical errors like "no - it alls" (know-it-alls) and "I will be a torn (sic) that you will not be able to remove" do not lend themselves to credibility either.

Mr. Warman, instead of posting things like this, I think you would get a far more productive response if you answered peoples questions and comments with something more than "Thank you for your support." Why not explain how your patent differs with other concepts in protection, such as the static-cling shields that come on many LCD technologies, including the Visor IIRC.

Either actually discuss the merits of your patent, or I will close this topic, and any future discussions on this.

1 - comment: This is not your thread. You began a thread on VisorCentral. VisorCentral owns this discussion and your participation is under their terms of usage. You may not say whatever you choose, without impunity, simply because you began a topic. I hear the requests to shut the thread down as concern over the inappropriateness of the "tone" of your initial post. What you just mentioned is a shipping label.
Years ago:
The manufactures would put a shipping label on an electronic device.
The manufactures would then stuff your $350.00 electronic device in side a box with padding all around it to protect the device.
Once the consumer received his new electronic device.
The consumer would unpack the box and remove the shipping label on the electronic device.
This would leave your $350.00 machine Exposed to Dust and Debris.
The manufactures did not give a shoot about the damage that was about to occur to the
machine.
If it got scratched then the consumer would have to buy another one.

I found this unacceptable, and as the years went buy.
The invention of the screen protector and an electronic device became fact.
The manufactures tried to assist the user.
They implemented different types of insurance policies that you could buy, but they are
optional. Now the manufactures are concerned. They finally SEE that more protection was needed. They are too late. I started this project in 1988.
The technology has come directly towards my invention.

Why not just keep the shipping label on?
That would prevent it.. Also, Why do you have to charge so much. You have to have like a 3000% profit. If you make your own, they are only like 10-25 cents each.

I don't know why I entered this discussion(sp), but oh well..

What can you do when the shipping label wears out?
The cost is more than what you might think. The material costs is way more.
The import fees, import taxes, legal fees, overhead, and etc. must be added into the
package costs of the viewing screen protective shield.

I would gladly lower the costs but the legal fees are extraordinary.
If people stop buying pirated or infringing items I can lower my prices.
I have the lowest prices on the market today.

I do agree.

Why don't you just stop sueing the damn people, lower your prices t oa point wher epeople well WANT t obuy them because they're affordable and get rid of the copycats that way. It's like DVD. DVD will only work if the MPAA keeps the prices resonable. If they jack them up when people hook on to them, people are going to go with the pirates of DVD movies. It's simple.

I don't want to be a flame.. but I have to agree. You should maybe try to get a better site. It's not that hard. I'm a teen to, and have learned a lot from a major advertiseing(sp) company in Minnesota. It's not that hard really. Just use a WYSIWIG editor, or my favorite, Homesite. That way you can create a good page, with a consistant(sp) design that looks good!

Actually, as people have said time and time again, the lowest prices for screen protectors come when you make your own. There is no way that you can compete with people who make their own. At roughly 5 to 10 cents a sheet it cost more to ship your product than it does to make a screen protector.

You were Absolutely Correct. I had 289 errors on my home page. We redesigned
the page using HTML Validator. Thanks to everyone for bringing this to my
attention. When I received this report I fired the designer, and had a new page

Do you knon that I counted 8 typos in your "newly" and professionally done web page. For some reason this looks like the same type of writing that you put in your posts. Maybe you should hire a new designer, and a 7th grade english teacher (dont't want to offend miradu2000 )to proof read it. Actually, pay that teacher a couple of extra bucks, and have him/her proof read all of your post before you actually post them on the board.

Nobody in their right mind would expose a $350.00 machine to an excessive amount of dust and debris. Anything that would scratch a screen would also tear the protective covering and cause a scratch. Dust on a screen can be blown off with compressed air. All the instruments I have used never suffered from screen scratches. I was careful.
Screen protectors for marine devices would be a waste of money. They are designed to be unaffected by wetness. Enough accumulation of dried sea water could scratch the screen of a marine device, however, a responsible person cleans their boat after use.
You mention "The invention of the screen protector and an electronic device became a fact". Yet your patent abstract applys only to an electronic instrument, not a device. PDA's are computers, not instruments.
I haven't seen WriteRights and others discontinue their products. Why is that?
Many patents become indefensable in court because they are painted with too broad of a brush.
When you opened this thread, I would have thought that you would discuss the reasons you think your patent has been infringed upon. So far, you have just pushed peoples buttons. If you enjoy this, fine with me, but why start off antagonistic when you have been previously hammered?
