Are you getting any specific error messages? What does the hotsync log say?

Are any/all of your channels custom channels? AvantGo is starting to more strictly enforce their custom channel policy today.

Toby,

Wasn't this supposed to happen today? I just synced and still have my custum channels.

Custum channels are more than half of my 22 channels, if I'm not in one of the first eight (stupid number), I might have to find a replacement for avantgo.

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

Yep, although they didn't state a time to my recollection, so maybe it's after midnight tonight or something.

I didn't try yet today, but I'll know in a few minutes.

Well, I'm not that upset since my only custom channel is The Onion. I wouldn't like to lose it, but I could cope.

I understood it to mean that you could have up to eight custom channels for free. Did I miss something?

I think it said that the first eight people who sync get it, all others are out, but I can't verify because I don't remember where I read it.

Doesn't The Onion offer its own channel via Avant Go? Or do you download it as a custom channel to get more of it than AG sends?

No, but they do have a mobile version that is basically the same thing. http://mobile.theonion.com/

Yeah, AvantGo's model is based on the number of people who download your channel. From 1-8 people, the content provider pays nothing. From 9-100, it's ~$1000, and so on. Since AvantGo is proxying the content, any channels that you download are causing a drain on their resources, so although I may think their price structure is a bit less granular than it should be, I can't see anything wrong with the concept of them charging for it. The assumption is that a content provider is either charging its users to recoup its costs, or they're banking on other intangible benefits.

The Onion doesn't have an official AvantGo channel since going 'official' would require that they keep the AvantGo version somewhat separate from a 'regular' mobile version, IIRC (although I seem to recall that this may have changed somewhere along the line). Considering that they still haven't disappeared yet, I can only assume that either less than 9 people are subscribed to it, or they're paying the AvantGo people while keeping their content the way it's always been.

All of my channels seem to have stuck around--except Weather Underground seems to be timing out.

So far I seemed to have lost the gist channel, which is the only custom channel from a web site the set up an avantgo page.

I have mine...

My two only custom channels are The Onion and Local News from WOWT-TV -- I could understand WOWT having under 9 people subscribed, but I know that the Onion has more than 8, just from the people that talk on the web. There is me, my two brothers, that is three, and I have heard of atleast 5 other people with the onion...

Is AvantGo really kicking us out? Or just preventing us from joining new ones?
