Fellow Visor Users,
Thank you for helping me out with my last survey. It will be written up in this weeks edition under "Would you trade your Visor for a Palm Vx". I would like to introduce a second survey to you, for next weeks edition. Here are my questions:

1. Are you still using the stock Visor case?

2. If yes...the Visor Deluxe comes with both a soft and hard case. Which one do you use?

3. If No...What case have you upgraded to?

4. Why did you make the selection you did? What features does the new case have that your old didn't?

4. The RhinoPak gives me space to store extra batteries, credit cards (so I don't have to carry a wallet everywhere I go), and other misc. items. It's great!

3. I am using the sport binder from Franklin Covey.

4. The main reason I needed another case was because I wanted to be able to carry a small notepad of some sort and my business cards along with my Visor. It might be too big for a shirt pocket, but I can just slip it in the side of my purse and it fits easily along with my cell phone. I also like the way that it secured the Visor inside. I didn't like the ones where you had to velcro the visor inside. With this one, it has a "frame" of vinyl or whatever around the Visor, and is slightly padded. It has worked great for my needs.

1) My girlfriend still uses the original case, but I do not (she keeps hers in her purse and so it's not likely to spill out and drop)

2) We were both using the standard soft case that ships with each Visor

3) I use a $15Cdn zippered case from Olympus, designed for small digital cameras. It's leatherette, holds the Visor like a glove. It's got one external velcro-closed pocket that nicely holds batteries and a Springboard module, or screen wipes, or whatever, as well as two inside elastic pockets made to hold CF cards (and I hope they'll hold a standard SB as well!).

I picked it up at a local Don's photo. I suggest that anyone looking for a case check out a camera store first.

4. I bought the case for my PalmPilot Personal, about 9 months ago. I've had the Pilot for about 3 years. It took me that long to find a case that was both afordable (@ $40) and fit my picky tastes.

The case is black and made of a combination of courdra nylon and plastic. It has one of those swivel clips that allows the case to be removed while not removing the belt clip. The top is open and the PDA is secured by a stretch nylon cord. You can spin the case on the clip and feel safe in knowing that it won't fall off and the PDA won't fall out.

I've had my BVD for 4 days now (I waffled for a while, but I'm glad I made the purchase). Since the Visor is narrower than the Pilot, there's a little room in the case, but the Visor can't fall out of it. I'm hoping that Covertec develops cases fitted to the Visor line, maybe even offering some different colored cases.

The Covertec site (www.covertec.com) is currently down. Hopefully it'll be back on-line soon, with a line of cases designed specifically for the Visor.

[4] Padded for protection from damage due to accidental drops. Can use Visor while still in the case. Elastic straps on back can make Visor adhere to your hand. Looks really cool.

3. I actually use 2 cases. I bought a Handspring slim leather flip case and I have a RhinoPak 2000. The Visor stays in the flip case all of the time. I use the RhinoPak for transporting it back and forth to work.

4. I chose the RhinoPak for storage. 2 sets of batteries, extra styli, easily a couple of springboards when their available, etc.. Also, it's built pretty durable, waterproof, etc.. I chose the Handspring case because of the mounting mechanism. The sewn in cover is a natural solid mount, holds a couple of business cards, etc. Good for just carrying it around the office, the RhinoPak is too bulky for that...

3. I use the E&B Slipper with belt clip for the Visor and also use the RhinoPak 2000. The Visor, in its slipper, and extra batteries, stylus, and someday my GPS, Six-Pak and future (?) springboards.

4. I chose the E&B Slipper because I feel that wearing a PDA on your belt is the most convenient and secure way to lug it around AND it is a very well made and professional looking case. I bought the RhinoPak 2000 because it is still small but has tons of room for the extras you would need while storing and traveling. It is also well made.

1) No. The soft cover didn't offer much, and I misplaced the hard flip cover.

3) At a Wilson Leather store outlet in a local outlet mall, I bought a black leather zippered case that fits my BVD exactly for only $9.99 ($10.78 with tax!). To describe it in detail: on the right side it has stiff leather sides that stick up about 1/4 inch on the sides and bottom -- these protect and hold the Visor (as well as blocking the beaming deal). It has an elasticized leather strap about 3/8 inch wide at the top (which covers Flip and the word "visor"), and a narrower elasticized leather strap which goes below the screen and above the buttons. On the left it has 4 credit-card type slots for holding stuff. And in the center are two elastic loops (I use one for a pen and one for a Cross stylus.) It has a zipper around the entire outside. On the back in small letters is stamped "Wilsons - the leather experts."

4) It is functional, nice looking -- and was sure cheap compared to what I'm reading about here!

3. I cloak my IVDx in the Rhinoskin Cockpit, for $60 from PalmGear. http://store.yahoo.com/pilotgear/highimpact.html

4. I realized quickly that the stock HS case would enable me to dash the Visor to pearly little bits of plastic, glass and silicon in record butterfinger time. I chose the Cockpit because:

* It is simple (opens like a book, snaps shut)
* It is durable (lined with cushioning neoprene and coated in sheet-titanium, which is even me-proof)
* It holds two extra AAA batts *and* an extra stylus in the space between the hinge and the Visor (although this stiffens the snap mechanism a bit)
* It is certifiably badass.
DOWNSIDE:
* It is far heavier than the stock HS case (but so what -- it's still half the weight and one-third the size of the leather Filofax I used to lug)
* It will never hold, nor accommodate most Springboards (but who cares, I doubt I'll buy any, most of them smell like vaporware in the first place, and if I were to buy them, I'd simply have to buy another case. It's worth it to me to keep the lines slim for now)
* It is certifiably badass. Sometimes you need to be stealthy, but the Cockpit says "clank" when you shut it.
Me, I *LOVE* that sort of nonsense.

Wanted protection and I want the Visor on my belt. I wanted to be able to drop my visor and not worry about it. The ultimate case for me would be if instead of coming in funky colors the Visor came in a rubber waterproof case with a metal belt attachemt on the back

I use both the Hard and Leather case that game with my GREEN VISOR DELUXE!

I refuse to pay extra for some bulky case. The Leather soft case is fine when I am traveling about. When I am @ home I use the plastic hard cover. I am a clumsy fool but dropping it has never been a problem.

I also do not use any screen protection. Again I refuse to pay extra for something I probably won't keep for more then 6 months or so (i.e. Once the color Visor models come out....I'll switch over to that).

Off the subject:

I did, however, get a styli from PDA Panache because the stock one is way too light.

I use a leather belt clip case from 3-com... it is their SKU # 10123U...
made for the palm III or IBM workpad but it fits the visor nicely and has an excellent belt clip that hooks under your belt to keep from falling off... it also hang on nicely to pants pocket or pants with out a belt... it was $19.95 from egghead.com... I can see where it may be necessary to have a couple of cases to choose from depending on work activities or dress or environment, etc.
This case also has stiffiners built in to front and bact to protect the screen... this is the type of case that you remove the visor from completely when using and the case stays on you belt...

No never have used the standard cases for Palm or Visor

Sumdex - it's a carry all 8.8" x 6" x 1.5"

I ordered and returned a lot of cases when I first got a PIII. I didn't like the Velcro options or the hassle of removing it for a hotsnyc. I also needed it out of the case to use the GoType keyboard. Belt clips or carrying it in my pocket were not options either. I needed something that could accommodate other items as well something compact but useful.

The Sumdex case meets those requirements. I can take it to any meeting and have everything I need. The visor is well protected and readily available.

It has one pocket that is a perfect fit for the visor, a smaller pocket that I use for spare batteries (the backup springboard fits in it nicely), pen loop can accommodate about 3 pens, 8 slots that are business card/credit card size and 3 extra pockets for storage of other items or accessories. Well padded but not bulky. I have the canvas one but I think it comes in leather as well.
