Talking Serial Port To USB Cradle

No matter what I do I can not sync my Edge to a USB Port. I bought a serial cradle for my office. Since I do not want to go for another $49 for my house, Is there a way I can connect (cable, etc.) my USB cradle to a serial port? I have a Visor DLX with a serial cradle that I hot sync with and then beam any updates to my Edge. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm sure some of us can help, but we'll need more info before you have to buy an adapter, and slow your sync speed way down by using a Serial cradle.

What's your computer config? win2k, NT, WinME, 98...etc.

Do you know your USB ports are working with other USB devices? Maybe a printer, scanner, or something else?

Have you upgraded the Palm Software on the PC for the Edge?

I had a coworker who's USB ports were disabled in the BIOS, once we fix that, it was all gravy...

Serial Port to USB

I am using a Dell 4100, Win 98SE, 1Gig, 256 ram memory. I have a Belkin 7 port hub. Connected to it Canon USB Scanner, Canon G1 Digi camera, Microsoft wireless mouse. Zip Drive all working properly
I tried connecting HS Edge cradle directly to 2nd USB Port on computer. Still NG
Thanks for any help

Sorry, You can do it, but I think it will cost more than $49.
Every adapter I looked at was around $58-$100.

And you can only go USB to Parallel, not the other way. At least if you can, I haven't found one to go the other direction.

This is a long shot, but try disconnecting the Zip drive. I seem to recall some problems with the Iomega USB drivers. If you can successfully use the USB cradle without the Zip drive connected, you can see if there's updated Zip drivers available. The other thing you can try is swapping the hub to the other USB port. See if those devices still work and try the cradle. Most likely, you have a driver conflict (even though that's not supposed to happen on USB )

As for adapters, you can't go from a serial port to a USB device... only USB to serial device.
