Unhappy

My Visor Deluxe has a screen contrast problem: contrast is fading away and
returning back to normal all the time. It also flickers somewhat.
I've checked and replaced the batteries, have done a hard reset without any success unfortunately. Did anyone experience the same problem ? How has it been solved ?

I had this problem a few months ago, and then it went away, but I noticed it again this weekend. It seems to happen when I turn my Visor on and AvantGo is still up. Must be something in thier app.........

I still don't have a way to fix it....just thought I would let you know someone besides you has it.

Update - I am not overclocking, FYI.

Ryan

I had the same thing occurring. I attributed that to the settings on my Afterburner Hack, because if I disable the hack, the screen (between applications) stayed consistant in contrast.

I pretty much eliminated it by tweaking the LCD/n settings, which forces a constant contrast, no matter the clock speed.

So, if you are overclocking, that may take care of the fading in/out problem.

You both seem to know a lot about those little machines, Ryan and Larry.
Somebody suggested me to install "no screen hack". Although I don't know what a hackmaster is, and what you mean by overclocking. I didn't change anything to my Visor, didn't try to speed up the processor or so.
What I did a few months ago (long enough before the contrast problem occured) was installing some additional software I bought : IrLink, TinySheet and SmartDoc. Can those screw up the contrast settings ??

Hackmaster is a program that allows you to use system enhancements that have been written to do things the os should probably do in the first place. I believe the hack recommendation you received was for "No Streak Hack" which removes streaking in some applications. I don't know if it will do anything to solve you're problem though.

Per Ryan's post....

AvantGo does indeed set the contrast on its own. On my unit I have the setting just left of center. AvantGo, when active, sets it about 3/4 of the way to the right. When I exit AvantGO though it releases the contrast back to where it was prior. I have no problems associated w/contrast though. FYI.

I have the same problem with my Visor. I noticed it occuring about a month ago, and I did not have AvantGo or Hackmaster installed.

I contacted Handspring and their suggestion was to Hotsync, take the batteries out, let it sit for a while (I presume this step is to allow any accrued battery power to be used up by the unit) and then do a hard reset. Before I had the chance to do so, however, the problem dissapeared.

Today the problem started again. Now I am going to obtain a replacement because of this and other problems, such as the loose screen and the groove where the top part of the cover snaps into breaking away.
