I purchased a SpringPort modem yesterday, but the only documentation included with it is a quick reference guide. I was hoping to find something a little more detailed to read. I've spent awhile browsing their website, but have been unable to find any online documentation. I have been on-hold with Xircom technical support for 50 minutes (and counting), and am wondering if anyone will ever actually answer!

Does anyone have any idea if additional documentation is available for this product, and how to get it?

Thanks!

I share your frustration with Xircom's technical support access -- both times I've called them I've also waited around 45 minutes on hold until somebody answered.

No other documentation that I can find on the SpringPort, though I must say that its operation is reasonably straightforward. As I've commented elsewhere, operation on my Platinum is a bit flaky (apparently a driver issue, according to some other posts here), and batch email throughput at a nominal 56k isn't as quick as I would have hoped. But it's getting the job done for me, meaning I don't have to lug a laptop when I travel (I also have a Stowaway keyboard, which is invaluable).

Let me know how your SpringPort operates, of you have a chance.

best...aa.

So far, the modem is working well. Marginally faster than my Thincom... You're right, it is very straightforward in use. I was hoping the documentation could tell me things like if there is a battery monitor for the modem or if I just have to wait for my VDX to hang; etc.

It's been 20 hours since my email to Xircom tech support, and still no response. Hopefully, I will hear something soon.

BTW, I did verify my StarTac battery operates the modem, and the SpringPort battery pack operates my StarTac phone. I guess that gives me a battery backup for both. And, I can use my StarTac as a battery meter to check if batteries are getting low. It sure would be nice if Xircom provided something more graceful for this task.

Does anyone know when these GSM/PCS Connection Kits are going to be available? Or maybe the lack of documentation hasn't notified anyone of their presence.

Actually, I think you can use the one from their CompactCard Modem 56 GlobalACCESS.
