Question Double Entries After Hotsync

I have a Visor Prism. I have Intellisync and also the upgraded pocket mirror on my desktop. My problem is that I just completed a hot-sync and now I have multiple entries in the contact list and on my calendar for the same things. Boy is this annoying. I guess I can take the time to delete the duplicate entires, but I don't know why it happened. I am very new to this. Can somebody please tell me what to do??

Apparently this is a common enough occurance that programs have been written to deal with it. You may want to check out UnDupe 1.6 (on PalmGear). I haven't had to use it because it's never happened to me. Mostly favorable reviews. But that doesn't solve the problem of why it happened in the first place... I can't help you there.

Good luck!

Re: Hot syncing and double entries

I had the same problem with my Prism when I got it in December. I was using IntelliSync at the time and had all my records duplicated. Unfortunately I had to go through my records and delete each double entry on the desktop. Then I uninstalled Intellisync and hot-synced the Prism, and it worked. I haven't bothered using Intellisync since and have had no doubling up at all.
To be safe You should back up your Prism on the backup module if you have one,and I would also contact HS support. They may have a better solution by now.

Good Luck!

I was reading the intellisync readme file about this very thing. I am trying to set up intellisync and thought I'd check out what others have experienced. Anyways, here's a few snippets (no pun intended) from the readme...

quote:
Initial synchronizations may produce some duplicate records. This is caused by the records in each application/device being slightly different. Since Sync-it cannot distinguish which application/device is correct, it simply transfers the records creating two copies on each side. To remove the duplicate, inspect both records in one application or on your device, determine which is correct, and delete the incorrect record to remove the duplicate.

quote:
The easiest way to avoid duplicate data on your Palm device is to start using Sync-it with a clean device. HotSync your device one last time to back up settings and third-party applications. Hard-reset the device. Go into the HotSync Manager Custom activity and disable the PIM sections/applications you will be synchronizing through Sync-it. HotSync the device to restore your settings and third-party applications. Proceed to set up and synchronize through Sync-it.

I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with this app if I'm going to have to do a hard reset. They aren't very user friendly....
