Unhappy Deluxe automatically turns on in 30 sec.

I have been slow in buying a backup module, but battery drain problems make it necessary to have backup, especially when backpacking and hotsynch is not an option. Amazing how all computer and OfficeMax type stores are almost Visor-less. I guess I've been sleeping while Handspring has slowly abandoned the PDA market.

I scooped up one of the last Handspring 8MB flash modules at my local Staples. Now I have a terrible problem -- the unit won't stay turned off. I hit the power off button, and within 60 seconds it turns back on. This happened yesterday with a MemPlug SM module I bought and returned this morning. Anyone have a similar problems? How did you fix it?

When it turns back on, are there any messages displayed?

What unit do you have? If it is one of the rechargeable units, the BattPlug from Visor Solutions (or a similar power supply) can help provide insurance against battery drain. It really saved my *** with my Prism a few times!

I rigged mine up to plug into any standard 1/8" mono plug so I could recharge with a solar panel, car power supply, etc. Worked great!

No, it doesn't display any error messages, just turns back on by itself.

My unit is a year-old Visor Deluxe that has never had this problem until I installed the module. It does not have rechargeable batteries. I just performed a power down reset, taking the batteries out for over 30 minutes and then reinstalling them. This seems to have solved the problem, but I've got the feeling that after I perform a hot-synch, it's going to happen again.

OK, hot-synch performed and the problem is back. Maybe I better delete my PC's Palm desktop software and download a new version.

Wait, it only came back on once after the hot-synch. Now it's staying off. I hate this. It better not be an intermitent problem. Up til now the problem has been consistent.

I like your solar power system. I want to use my Visor to read books during a backpacking trip, but must fix this battery drain/switching on problem first.
