Angry

Great, I bought the Visor 5 stylus pack.
I used one of the new styluses with my VDX, for about a week. Now my screen is all scratched up, the screen was perfect a week ago.
I discovered a small fault in one of the styluses that actually seems to be causing the scratches. Looks like the plastic is not smoothed down enough.

I called Handspring, and.................
I should buy a screen protector, wow great, thanks a lot Handspring.

Thanks

I was considering picking up a 5 pack this week. I guess I will stick with my PDA Panache.

Thanks for the info

They're terrible. I'm using one of the five pack styli too and sometimes I can HEAR the scratches. Interesting that Handspring suggested the screenprotectors when they accused them of causing excessive battery drain to other customers...

Question my 5-pack is fine

That's odd... I bought my 5-pack 4 months ago, and I am as of yet scratch-free. I don't use screen protectors, but I do use #811 3M Scotch Tape on my graffiti area. I average about 30 minutes of usage a day...

I think any item that is molded, be it plastic or metal, is prone to some ridges or deformaties where the mold pieces meet. I had a little ridge on the stylus that came with my Visor. A couple of minutes with a fine grit sandpaper and it was as smooth as...well, as smooth as you would need a stylus to be.

I have been using the stylus that cam with my prism for about 3 months now (same stylus that comes in the deluxe pack), and I have a perfectly clear screen.

Well, the stylus that came with my Visor also works fine. It's like they don't put as much work into the 5 pack as they do to the stock shipping stylus.
.....hummm perhaps they have a contract with the screen protection company that they mentioned as a option when buying a screen protector (yes a certain brand of screen protection was mentioned). Well, most likely not, but still a thought!

Lightbulb

Call them up and tell them what happened... I got my first Visor in January 2000, back when they still came with the all-plastic 'nail' stylus. Mine was one of a a large number of Visors shipped with defective stylii, and since I didn't use a screen protector the first time around, my screen got all scratched up.

I called Handspring and told them their stock stylus had scratched my screen up. With no further questions asked, they overnighted me a replacement Visor. Granted, last year around this time Handspring was really bending over backwards to make amends for the customer service nightmares of fall 1999, but I think they'd still be responsive now if you ask for a replacement.
