Handspring should do well to address
what most Palm users carp about their devices, namely the lousy display.
Could anybody confirm how Visor has improved
on this?

Just spoke with a sales rep during my purchase and she told me that the display is the same as the one in the Palm V. No improvement.

Of course, the Palm V display is pretty darned nice, for monochrome. It does 16 shades of grey and is MUCH sharper than the original Pilot LCD. I upgraded to a Palm IIIx just for the screen.
I've used a Compaq Aero WinCE handheld with a color screen. It had its niceties (cool to be able to pop in the memory card from my digital camera and {slowly} view JPGs), but the color wasn't worth the added weight and bulk and the short battery life.

I just got a Palm IIIx and the screen quality had a lot to do with my decision. Color would be nice but what I'd hate is short battery life. I know folks with Color CE devices really fly through batteries. Maybe Color with LIon batteries would be nice but I don't think I could afford one...

I am a memeber of the San Francisco Palm User Group, and we just had our meeting on Thurs. Handspring sent us an actual unit to drool on,...er I mean over. The screen is the same as the Palm V, which is actualy rather nice. For a while there was a large discussion on the texture of the screen vs. the Palm V, but it was later determined to be the stylus, not the screen itself.
